Going to FW for the first time in a motorhome in Sept. Was wondering about renting a golf cart. Does anyone know the rate for this? Is it rented by the day...the week? I could really use some input on this. Thanks

We go often enough that I found a pink golf cart on ebay for $500 and bought it and painted it. But here is the information you asked for...

Carts can be rented for $44/day (or $12/hour) at the Bike Barn (407-824-2742); however, the supply is limited so call ahead to reserve a cart. Fort Wilderness carts may be reserved up to one year in advance.

How long is a day? What if we don't know for sure which days we need it until we get there? Is there any chance of reserving one once you're in the park?

Actually it is $47 a day and with tax comes to $50 a day. We felt it was very much appreciated!! We would have never been able to do as much as we did if we had to walk and wait on buses!!

I believe a "day" begins at 1pm and ends at 11am. Standing in line at the bike barn and paying for the cart and signing the papers can take a little time and for this reason I don't think many people rent one today and then return it only to pick another up in a couple of days when they need it again. Even when you are going to the parks it is nice to have one to get to the marina or bus stops and have it waiting for you when you get back and are tired of walking.
I also don't recommend waiting to make your reservation because they can go quick. Best to make the ressie for your length of stay and then return it after one day if you find you don't need/want it. I have been told they will only charge the one day you actually use it.

Do they charge your cc when you call to reserve ahead of time or do they wait to charge you when you pick it up?

no, they don't charge your credit card at the time of reservation. You can use any method of payment at the time of pick up.

Yes you can use any form of payment and no they don't charge your card when you reserve it. Kinda funny though that when I paid for my additional day with cash he kinda got a little flustered. I guess people don't hardly use cash anymore!!
