We leave next Saturday for 10 days at the fort and we will be getting a golf cart from Kenny at Tee Times. :yay: This will be our first time to use a cart (I want to do this "looping" thing). My question, is there a lock to use to keep the cart from being taken? I'm kind of nervous that someone will take the cart and I'll have to buy Kenny a new cart!!

Just take the key when you are not in it. Never heard of a cart getting stolen at the fort. I guess anything could happen, but i wouldn't worry too much about it.

just take the key with you, think of it this way there are more cameras than you think so if someone does take it they will be seen with it or leaving with it

Have never heard of this happen yet in the years i've been there and we have rented carts for the last 7 years and never had a problem this year we are hopefully going in Dec with our own cart and never heard of anyone locking there cart but have seen on a cart site a lock device like the club people use on a car it attaches to the steering wheel and the pedals but unless your going to use it a lot in other places where it is questionable if its safe for a cart don't think i would get one some one would have to have a trailer or truck with ramps and would not be easy with all the cameras and security to just leave witha cart you have to have a pass to get in the gate so not just anyone can drive in and security roams around checking on things there is cameras at all entrances and exits so wouldn't be a good idea for anyone to try to steal something as big as a cart would be a little noticeable not like you could hide it easily

I own my cart, and I never felt a need to buy a seperate locking device of anykind. There are SO MANY carts there...if there WERE a thief in the crowd...the chances of YOUR cart being the one that gets yanked is very slim. I know if I were going to steal a cart from the fort....it sure aint gonna be a run of the mill cookie cutter cart..Id go for the most expensive one there!! They dont give you less jail time for taking the cheaper cart!!

Thanks everyone. I feel better. I even went to the dollar store and got stuff to decorate the cart so I know which one is mine. I'm sooo excited..

I agree!!!!

That being said BDR will never have to worry!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Just kidding Rog. Can wait to loop with you in Oct.

I have both E-Z-Go and Club Car keys..... it's ok.

Insurance is very cheap, for liability, collision, and comprehensive, I pay $ 78. Hope you never need it, but it covers you.

I did see a post recently about someone having their cart almost taken and that's what starting me thinking about this. Nobody has really talked about carts being taken and maybe it's just me worrying about nothing. I know things can happen, and there's always a first for everything, but I was just wondering how often it actually happened.

We let friends borrow a FW rental cart while we were at the park one day. They went to the pool with the cart. When they went back, the cart was gone. The went to the front desk, and were told them it was probably an accident. Guests mistakenly get on a cart thinking it is theirs, and the keys are similar enough, that they are able to take it.

The key situation is why I purchased a new ignition switch for my cart. All G2 Yamaha carts are keyed the same from the factory as are most other cart brands. This is so the golf course doesn't have to keep track of what key is for what cart. I suspect that the rental carts are the same.
I also put a lock on my gas door so you can't raise the seat without the key.

Last Friday when I picked up my cart from Kenny he told me to put something on the cart to identify it. He said that he has 15 carts here. He said that a few nights ago someone called him and told him their cart was stolen from the campfire. Well, when he got to the bottom of it, it was a mixup -- someone took the wrong cart (even though it had someone else's sunglasses, cups, etc. in it).

That's why we always try and leave something VERY obviously ours on the cart. In December it was a bright orange towel we left draped over the back of the seat (also helpful to wipe off damp seats from the evening dew).

Oh... and our dogs enormous red jolly ball from her morning trips to the dog park. :upsidedow

We actually had our cart taken last Dec. FW gave us a replacement. I like to think it was just a mix up. they do all look the same.

Yes but unless they changed thiers it will fit every private Club Car running around:cool1:
