Golf cart accident

I agree.....prolly had to open it up to meet the needs of the disabled......

It has been opened and closed to golf cart traffic throughout the years, and people that drive golf carts are not disabled.

Personally, I always stop and crawl through that turn onmy cart as I know it is a dangerous curve. I also think the majority do the same but I do agree there could be a better solution for that area.

I agree, I do the same, always go slow around there, but they definitely should do something to lessen the chance of an accident. Most people I've noticed as well slow down, but those unfamiliar with the area might not know what is on the other side.

Hey Colson,

Just noticed you live in Delray. I am a Native also and currently live in Lake Charleston in Lake Worth. Born at Good Sam and have live in the Boynton, Delray area all my life.

Hey Neighbor! I was actually born in Miami, grew up in Pembroke Pines, just moved to Delray about a year ago, we love it here! I've worked in Delray for a while, but never even though about living here until we started looking for houses. I absolutely am in love with the area now, it really is a great community.

Just out of curiosity, and not that it matters, but was it a rental or private cart.... I'm sorry, I had to ask.

You know, another thing they could do would be to extend the path out a little bit and make it "curve" more in instead of being a totally blind corner. There is plenty of room there to do it, and it would definitely make visibility a lot easier.

Add some speed bumps to the sidewalk..

Make the bridge a toll bridge to cross over for carts.

How about some pedestrian and bicyclist warning signs to alert the cart drivers.

How about people just use some common sense. Oh yeh, that is something that is in short supply.

When we were there in early June we noticed that they were widening the concrete area around the curve (on the right as you go down the hill). Go slow, use the mirror, stay to the right, and hope a crazy kid on a bike doesn't come up on your side. Or go the long way, like I mostly do. :drive:

+1 OFFICIAL POST OF THE DAY :hippie:

So it does look like they're already taking some precautions, good news! :)

been like this all day.........;)

Well that's what normally happens with these golf carts threads, or is it a smoking thread, or a we're not treated the same thread, or the smoking peacock golf carts are better at the WL thread...lol ;)

When we were just there, I did notice that they had added some width to the turn when you get off the bridge for the golf carts to turn with. It was more difficult to turn before and I really appreciated that extra 2 to 3 feet. I (probably the only one) did use the mirror, however, when you have your own cart, you don't want the paint scratched and definitely don't want to bump or hit anyone . My thoughts go out to the girl and her family. I only wish that people would realize that inertia will always win out in the end and you need to ride the brake down the bridge and not "let it fly." :car:

Just put a brush guard on the front......

I've seen some that could drive over a bike..:car:

That turn has always scared me, my younger daughter is always scare to go down that hill, and often will walk her bike around the store on the boardwalk type of walkway.

It's the south, get 'dem Duke boys on it

I was sitting at the pool when the accident happened. The cart was heading toward the bridge and the girl was coming down off of the bridge. The girl on the bike was about 16 and did not speak english. She was on the wrong side of the road (according to the employee) and she ran into the golf cart. The driver of the cart was 18 and it was a rented cart. The girl hurt her ankle but decided not to be transported. That is all I know about it. I think the report from the employee was accurate, but remember, it may be wrong.
