OK, I will never claim to be the next Tiger Woods but I was thinking that I might like to get in a round of golf in August when we go home to SSR for the first time. Has anyone done this? If so, since I do not want to lugg around a set of clubs along with everything else a family of 4 takes on vacation, can you rent clubs at the course? Also, how challanging is the course for us hackers?

You will have no problem renting golf clubs at Disney. My dh is a hacker too but loves a couple of rounds each trip. Enjoy. :thumbsup2

You will have five courses to choose from. My favorites and Eagle Pines and Osprey Ridge. They have plenty of rental clubs so that will not be a problem. The resort will get you a taxi (gratis) to shuttle you to whichever golf course you decide to play and back. Get the DVC golf membership. It saves a ton of money on the green fees.

All the courses are very nice but we like Eagle Pines and Osprey Ridge as well.
Ditto on the DVC golf membership, it does save some extra $$$.

I have taken clubs and rented clubs over the years and the rental clubs are always in great condition.

Have fun!

we played at LBV last Oct with free shoes and clubs 4 of us (titlest and cobra clubs) great condition. The free rentals deal ended in DEC so now you need to pay for rentals unless they do something again for free. I got the DVC golf membership and it's still good for this Oct trip

Club rentals are available at all the courses, I believe it $45 for Cobras and $55 for titelist, $7 for shoes $6 for range balls.
DVC golf member greens fees for Aug. I believe are $35 but you have to play after 10am. You also get a pretty good rate with an annual pass, it's probably a little more than the DVC rate but you can get tee times earlier, but not as far in advance.
I usually play 2 or 3 times each trip, and I'm not very good either. My favorite course is LBV which would be very convient for you at SSR. I think it'a the easiest of the 5, and usually in great shape. I terms of difficulty I'd rate them as follows from hardest to easiest:
Magnolia, Oprey Ridge, Palm, Eagle Pines, LBV. Osprey, Eagle and LBV I think are the most scenic.
Last year they offered free club and shoe rental for DVC members I'm hoping the bring that back after the peak season which ends at the end of April.

Have a great trip and a better round of golf.

Thanks for the info everyone. Looks like I may be trying LBV in August. Now I have to find my old snorkel and fins to go diving for all the balls I will put in the drink. :teeth:

LBV is easy at SSR. Just walk down to the pro shop. :)
