I'm behind the times and just noticed the latest changes AND significant price increase to Annual passes. Do they now "turn" Photo Pass into Memory Maker or are there still differences? If so, what are they

The new benefit for the Platinum Plus, the Platinum and the Gold passes is the ability to download Disney PhotoPass photos. Memory Maker, which is the program used to access and view PhotoPass photos, is normally a $169 option available for purchase in advance and $199 if purchased while on vacation.

The annual pass with photopass downloads allows unlimited downloads during the year of the AP, but of course you need to download each photo within 30 days of it being taken. Memory Maker allows for unlimited downloads from 30 days of activation. So the only difference is that if the AP didn't include it you would need to pay for multiple Memory Makers to cover multiple trips.

Photopass is the service, Memory Maker is the product. Memory Maker is a replacement for the Photopass CD. The main difference is that you no longer get the CD - you get downloads.

Actually I don't think you need to download them within 30 days. Photos from Oct and Nov still show in my account. Oddly enough they show an expiration of a year from when the photo was taken.

With AP and photopass, you get 365 days of photos. And they expire in 365 days. All are digital downloads, but so is Memory Maker. There still in an option to buy a photo cd for both PP and MM.

While our pictures expire in 365 days, I noticed the stock photos included, don't have a year's expiration.

Did you have Memory Maker or have an AP?

Also I re-checked, photos have to be "purchased" within 45 days not 30 anyway

Right. We have an AP with Photopass and we have a years worth of photos on our Photopass Account. With the AP they don't expire like they do with just Memory Maker purchase.

That is the only difference between the AP photopass and buying Memory Maker. The AP gets everything someone who buys Memory Maker gets.

Thanks for the clarification!

The inclusion of the "free" down loads, take a little sting out of the changes. Now, if need to get over the 50% increase on TIW. :crazy2:

I need to find what I was reading but I think I saw something that said renewal TIW is $125 vs $150. Has anyone else seen this somewhere?

From the TiW website:
General Policies:
  • Tables in Wonderland is valid for one year from date of purchase.
  • Tables in Wonderland does not offer renewal rates. Each year you will need to purchase a new membership.
  • For lost or stolen Tables in Wonderland cards, there is a $50 replacement fee.

So with the Photopass option with the AP, can you print the photos at somewhere like Sams or Wal Mart without issue? Can you add any of the borders before printing?

It functions just like Memory Maker, or PhotoPass+ did or even the old PhotoPass Photo CD did. You can add borders, stickers, crop, etc to your hearts content. You can then download them along with the release, and get them printed wherever you want.

Great. So, once I activate my AP, all photos taken will automatically link to my magicband and Disney Experience account?

Yes.
And you will have access to any photos taken in the past 12 or so months too. Even if they have otherwise "expired"
As an example
DH and I went in June, Aug and Oct.
We got a Gold AP in December for DD, who is a member of my friend and family.
Our pictures from June, Aug and Oct are now available, along with those done on the Dec trip.
