Going week after Christmas-am I nuts??

FP good anytime that day..thought you had to go within time....

Only Disers seem to know this but it's true that you can use your FP anytime after the time printed on the ticket. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Mamaprincess - I think you forgot the most important one at MK - DUMBO!!
OOPS! How could I have forgotten the most notorious ride of all:laughing: The lines for Dumbo are crazy and it doesn't have FP. Should hit it first.

We went the week after Christmas last year. It was crowded but other people have good suggestions for that. You just can't have your heart set on doing everything. You are going for the atmosphere - not to hit every ride. We did New Years Day at AK last year and it was empty. Everything was walk-on all day, even Expedition Everest.

The most surprising thing for us is that it was cold. We normally go in the summer, and while we weren't expecting summer weather, but we also weren't expecting it to be so cold. We were wearing fleece jackets most of the time. At night we needed gloves. It only warmed up into the 60's one day and we went to the pool because the kids wanted to go so bad. I didn't go in. It was too cold for me.

It was cold last year! We were in layers and gloves and even uggs and we weren't the only ones. It was an unusually cold year last year. It's good to check the weather forecast regularly especially the week before you go so you can know how to pack. Usually it's good to pack for warm and cold weather. Layers are a good idea because mornings and evenings are cool but afternoons can warm up. If you are in layers you can peel off or add them back on as you need them.

12/28-1/4...dining reservations went pretty easy - getting "normal" dining hours...crowds are my concern.
Pros/Cons - going at that time?

Jan 1 is Saturday; extreme crowds through Jan 2; Jan 3 will be less crowded. Just do not go expecting to do every ride/attraction; as a benchmark of crowds, Soarin will have 3+ hour stand-by lines. Christmas decorations are overwhelming and don't miss Osborne Lights

Good luck. pixiedust: Our 2011 trip was originally planned for Dec 18-28 but I chickened out and changed the dates to a week earlier.

We'll be right there with ya - December 18-January 1. Our strategy is to concentrate less on the parks and more on other activities. We are also taking out 2 days to tour Universal (a first for us). I know its going to be insanely crowded, but I also hope that we'll experience a different type of magic with being there for the holidays. We'll see...
