Going too much?

So far I've been for a day trip for my 21st (2000), 3 nights with my kids (2011) and 3 nights with my kids and MIL (2012). The last 2 trips have been amazing and magical and I'm still on a major high from our last trip 3 weeks ago. Part of me would LOVE to be able to make it an annual thing, and I was dying to get back there after our March 2011 trip, but realistically I think every other year is right for us. This time the parade had changed, Dreams was on, and there were lots of other differences that made it seem magical and new.

I'm saving towards a Florida trip with my parents - £900 saved so far so a LONG way to go!

When we had passes we were going 3 times a year and that was too much for me, and took away the magic for the children I think. We've had an enforced break due to redundancy and having no money, and would really like to go back now. Just trying to see if it's possible.

Having been four times I think it's safe to say going every other year is the best option for me.

I first went in 1992 when I was 9 :) then had a massive break until I went again with my (then) 3 year old as a mummy myself. Me and my best friend had the best time ever and we couldn't wait to go back - it was literally the best holiday we'd ever had. We booked again very quickly, for the year later and it was pretty awful! I think the problem was the first time we went it was May and the park was unbelievably quiet, we literally went on rides, ran round and went on them again - it was awesome! The second time we'd gone was the first week of the Summer holidays and needless to say we were very naive about how busy it was going to be!

Going so close together I think you notice all the little faults, you notice what's not working anymore, you notice when certain characters fail to make an appearance, you notice when some of the effects don't work on Cinemagique... It definitely zapped the magic!

Anyway, after that disastrous trip I decided to leave Disneyland for a bit and I did for a couple of years and returned for the 20th anniversary. It was definitely worth the wait - new merchandise, loads of repairs and a newly painted castle meant a lot of the magic was returned. Yey :wizard:
