Going to WDW last week in April

and the first week of May. Birnbaum's says the crowds are moderate then but my husband is concerned about what that means.....we have a 5 yr old and a 21 month old who aren't very patient when it comes to waiting in line! This is after Easter though and I'm hoping we'll miss out on any potential Spring Break crowds. Can anyone reassure me that this is good timing to visit with little kids? Thanks!

Hey Yaurido,
Our fam is going the same week. I usually go this week every year from Indiana. Easter is the week before. Crowds have always been moderate to low in my opinion during this week. You shouldn't have to wait long at all Monday thru Friday. The Spring Break and Easter crowds should be behind us during the week we are attending.

Absolutely-we have never had a problem with any wait times
(about 10-20 mins longest).

BTW-we'll be there also same time!!

The only issue you may have is weekends at Epcot (Flower and Garden show) when locals may come to visit, and Grad Nights. The Grad Nights will affect the Magic Kingdom closing early, and there are a lot of the teens who attend Grad Night (in formalwear, v. nice!) at Pleasure Island and Downtown Disney those nights too. But if you have small children, this probably won't be an issue.

I understand we'll be there for the Flower and Garden Festival (I'm so excited to see Epcot!) but I didn't know anything about the Grad Nights...what exactly is that about? And as far as the MK closing early, you mean on a weekend? That stinks! We're already disappointed because it looks like we'll only be able to see Spectromagic once (on Sunday) so the idea of the park(s) closing earlier is a bummer!!!!

Hey! We're going to be at WDW at the end of Apr beginning of May too! We went last year in Mid-May and had very few lines. We enjoyed our trip so much that dh agreed to go again this yr. Since Easter is so late this yr, our school vacation actually runs into May. Hopefully this will be perfectly timed...Easter crowd gone, summer crowd not yet there!
I think you'll have a great time. Don't forget to use fastpass and baby swap! Those are great timesavers! We used them last yr when we could. It made for a very pleasant experience.
We actually were on a ride without another person on it, last year! (Tea cups) We were just walking into the MK and saw the ride stopping and no one in line. We just got on and they started up the ride! It was so cool!
We got to do BTMRR 3 times without waiting! We went back for a 4th time but, believe it or not, the wait was at least 45 mins! (and we had just ridden without any wait at all!)
We used FP and baby swap on Kali River Rapids and the kids (all 3 of them) got to ride 3 times in a very short amount of time. They got to ride Test Track twice (using fp and baby swap) with only a short wait. Usually you can only take two children on Test Track with the second parent, but the CM there gave us an extra pass so I could take all three!
I think you'll be happy with the time of year you've chosen. I hope we are too!

Thanks for your reply Lisa! We are also hoping that by going after all the Easter holidays we'll avoid most of the crowds. We did use FP the last time we were there and it was a huge help (as was the child swap). I've read that you're now able to get another FP as long as 2 hours have gone by since your last one...hopefully we can get to see even more attractions that way! Thanks again, and I hope your trip goes well too.

mom_rules - we will be at the Beach Club from 4/25 to 4/30, then checking in at Hard Rock Hotel for 2 or 3 nights. Will you be at the BC then too?

yaurido - Grad Nights is when the MK is open for graduating HS seniors on Friday and Saturday nights. The park closes to regular guests at 6 PM (so early!) to prepare and then reopens I believe around 8 PM for the grads, and is open all night. I'm not certain of all of the dates this year, but I'm sure if you do a search on this site or check wdwig.com, you'll be able to find out...

the good news is, after the 27th, all of the Easter crowds will clear out and you'll be able to do basically anything as a walk on (crossing my fingers that this holds true this year!!!)

We were on the 3/4 last yr. (extended the parks on our own for an extra day) We had a great time! I hope you do too!
