God here we go again. Do you really want to get into this again?and if you pay it off every month, the rate could be 1000% and it just wouldnt matter.

I have been going on vacations without cc for about 3 years now. It sure is nice not having any debt when I come home. I take out cash when I need it. That way I only spend the cash and think twice about buying anything that I might have to use my debt card. I have not had any trouble with hotel/motel without a cc. I have notice that I do not spend as much money on vacations.

and if you pay it off every month, the rate could be 1000% and it just wouldnt matter.
My interest rate (though very low) is irrelevant to me, as I don't carry a balance.
It might mean that you come home to debt if your not careful.I use my credit card to book trips ~ it doesn't mean I have debt when I come home.![]()

Thank you Deerh. You also buy less stuff when you are paying cash. When you use a cc studies have showen that people spend more money using a cc then cash. If you are buying with cash you have less of a risk to impulse shop.
And you are also a prime target for pick-pockets in the park and the occassional hold-up on the ride home...
A debit card offers the same fraud protection as a credit card. Go to visa.com and research it. And all of the credit card companies jack up there interest rates it's just a matter of time.

I no longer carry a balance. I have changed my financial thinking. They can raise the rates all they want. It costs me nothing and I get free hotel rooms and air miles. My debit card does not give me that.
Exactly. My interest rate (though very low) is irrelevant to me, as I don't carry a balance.
Like Lara said above, just because you have a credit card doesn't mean you have debt.
Many people are able to use them responsibly.
First of all I am not getting all worked up over your stupid postings. Like I told you before I really don't care what you think.sure, it's fun watching you get all worked up. I'm on a conf call with nothing but time to kill for the next hour.
Besides, what in my post was incorrect? Do you somehow know of a magical way that the interest rate matters to me if I don't pay any?

That's right. WOW you did listen to what I had to say. All this time I thought I was talking to a brick wall.don't tell them that....s/he thinks they are EVIL and those of us that use CC's to our advantage (such as free hotels / air miles) worship the almighty CC's and that at somepoint they will rise up against us and destroy the world!!!!
Good for you. So your another person in love with your credit card huh?Late to the party that's been going on for the last 3 pages of the thread or so, but what I really find funny is that when people poke holes in donaldduck's assertions (if they can be called that), rather than refuting anything substantive, he attacks the form, arguing that it's his opinion, and he's not presenting it as fact, etc..
The only evil inanimate object of which I've ever heard is Talky Tina.
To argue that credit cards are evil is contrary to logic. As others have said, there are plenty of beneficial uses for the cards (I have made a chargeback this year and a warranty claim last that I could not have made with cash or a debit card, and currently I have $246 in rewards sitting in one account while I have never paid a cent of interest or any other charges on any cards; nor do I ever buy impulsively) just as there are poor uses for the cards. That both can exist simultaneously necessarily means that the card cannot be either "evil" or "good". Again, this should be patently obvious to most individuals, as objects cannot possess any trait of morality.

It means that you worship the almighty FICO SCORE.

I am not the only person that thinks cc are evil. http://www.scienceblog.com/cms/credit-cards-evil-by-nature-11867.html
