Going to the Dollar Store....

Going to the dollar store on my way home from work can anyone help me with my list:

1. rain ponchos (I know if I buy these real cheap ones..I should buy at least 2-3 per person.)

2. over the door toiletry holder
3. powder
4. bandaids
5. small game/toys for kids (for the plane ride)
6. Ziploc bags
7. A ribbon or pom poms to tie on my suitcases.

Do you think they would have that body glide stuff or the mole skin?

What else... I know there must be more

Maybe a few Disney themed toy items. Our Dollar Tree has flying discs, silly putty, yoyos, etc. You can grab a few of those and surprise your children with them in the mornings or evenings of your trip..that way they aren't clammering for EVERYTHING in the shops, and you don't have to pay shop prices to give a little something extra magical.

They have the mesh pop-up laundry hampers there, and also mesh laundry bags - great for keeping dirty clothes under control. Other handy things I've purchased there: zip ties (can use to lock your luggage), velcro zip ties, cheap sunglasses, reader glasses, & umbrellas that you won't be crushed if you lose or break, word search puzzle books for the trip, little journals - great for your park bag.

I cant think of anything else for you to pick up at the dollar store.But one thing Dont is bubbles.Someone on this board suggested bubble to bring to disney and have the kids play with them while waiting in lines.Thats not a good idea cause other people waiting in line will not wait to get bubbles on there clothes,hair or food

I got glow sticks, a small first aid kit (really just bandaids), hand sanitizer, an Ariel yo-yo, that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

What I DIDN'T find at my local Dollar Tree was:
over the door toiletry (shoe) bag
window clings for decorating our room
ponchos (went with better quality ones for like $3 at Walmart instead anyway)
pop-up hamper

I second the pop-up hamper already mentioned, also sunblock (just check the date). My dollar tree did not have the shoe organizer, but Walmart had it for around $4.

The only place I have seen body glide is the sporting goods store. Moleskin can be found in most first aid kits, even the basic ones. Make sure that you have little scissors or something similar to cut your moleskin so that you do not have to waste a whole sheet.

I have never seen anything like bodyglide or moleskin (or generic equivalents) there - that stuff is more expensive than $1.

I bought a pop-up laundry hamper there -- loved it! Packed completely flat, and was so handy to stick in the closet and gather up dirty clothes.

Some people buy glow sticks at Dollar Tree.

I bought a strap holder thing to hold my sunglasses around my neck. I used to put them on my head but everytime I would take my daughter to the bathroom they would fall off. Hopefully this strap will work. My Dollar Tree was out of ponchos. I hope they get some more in before my trip.

Get a shower rod and curtain. Dollar Tree has the curtains but not rods, Dollar General has both. Hang it in your room to seperate the bedroom and vanity/ bathroom sections of your room. It provides privacy while changing clothes, allows you to keep the bathroom door open while showering (reduce the heat buildup), and you one person can get up and ready without waking others by turning on the lights.
It is cheap and packs easily. Get a dark color curtain or go all out and get a disney curtain. Definitely worth the 5-8$ investment. The rod length is adjustable and the spring tension in the rod allows it to fit it lots of places. Ours fit perfectly at Pop. Most value resorts have the same floor plan as do many of the moderates.

i would never have thought of something like that. thats a great idea..
do you use a shower curtain or a plastic (liner).. how many does it take to make it all the way across i cant picture the length across (we are staying at Pop)

Not that you can get this at the Dollar Store, but we use a big blue Ziploc bag for laundry because you can pack more in the suitcase on the return trip! We hang it on the doorknob between rooms to maximize space. I've purchased them in a two-pack (one XL and one XXL) from WalMart or Zellers(Canada) - I'm sure Target would also carry them. I've paid between $4-7 depending on whether they're on sale or clearance. The bags are so big that we can put our entire week of summer laundry for three in one zip it up and remove all the air and still have room in a suitcase. Well worth the investment as they are very sturdy and last more than one trip. Nice thing is that the entire bag goes directly into the laundry room...unpacking is so easy!

I just went to Dollar Tree yesterday and stocked up on Glow Sticks. They had some that were the size of bracelets, necklaces, and the just a thick rod that would hang from a necklace. They had every color you could want. I also got the two pack of ponchos. They are flimsy, but I thought I would get 3 or 4 packs and what do you have to lose? I also got Disney stickers to use on our countdown calendar. So many great things!

Dollar Tree has a small organizer that can hang on a hook on the back of the door. It is much smaller than a shoe organizer, but still great for stuff used most often like hair products and deodorant. On our cruise we had one on the back of the bathroom door and another on the back of the closet door.

My DD has kids sunglasses, I got her eyeglass cases.

I just bought laundry bags at WalMart for $5, comes in cool colors for back to school. They zip-up into it's own pouch. Since we use the LLBean rolling duffels, the laundry bag fits perfectly full of dirty clothes for the flight home and goes straight to the laundry room.

Dollar tree has 5-packs of dice. You can print Yahtzee cards online.

My DD loved a glow wand I bought her at Dollar Tree for Spectromagic!

we got the over the door organizer at our dollar store but it doesn't come with anything to hang it over the door with. Any ideas on what we should get to hang it over the door with that isn't expensive?

We just use a hanger and hang it from the bar in the closet next to the sink.

Are there holes in the top of the organizer? 3M makes mounting hooks that you can remove later, then you can buy a pack of refills of the sticky backing for future trips. (Staples, WalMart-less selection, Home Depot)

I got my DD a cute shoe organizer for her door but the metal hooks were scratching the front of the door. The 3M hooks have been up for a year now with no problems! Just some hooks are thicker than others, so test them though the holes first!
