DH is taking me to see Wicked in Chicago. I've never been to a broadway show before other than High School Musical (does that count). Do we want orchestra level? And, can someone in the Chicago area tell me where the theater is compared to The Magnificent Mile?

across the chicago river to the south at state and Randolph

I'm not from Chicago, but I will try to help!
Yes you want orchestra-center if possible, but the Oriental is a great theater and you would have pretty good seats anywhere as long as they are not designated as limited view. Even dress circle (1st balcony) has good seats.

The theater is relatively close to all the shopping but you will have a little hike. Macy's/Marshall Fields is just about right across the street from the theater. There is a Garrett's popcorn a couple doors down--you must have that! (but you can't take it into the theater) PM me if you want directions to the stage door for autographs and pictures. It's really easy to find.

Have fun! Defy gravity!

Have a great time. I really enjoyed the show, put 2 songs on my iPOD, and am still singing them in my head. Great show.

Enjoy! I saw Wicked the other weekend. It is fantastic.

The seats I think are the best (as far as value and view) are the loge seats. They're in the balcony but they're 4 rows down "below" instead of going up to the balcony. Do NOT buy dress circle seats. You won't be able to see the top of the stage and you need to see that for the show. I sat in the front row of the loge last time and had to duck to see part of a scene...and you can't even see the dragon at all.

One last note...

Take me? :D I've been twice and I'd love to go again!! :D Have a great time, let us know where you end up sitting, and let us know what you think!

I don't know what section we sat in...can't remember the name for it, but we sat on the far right side of the stage in a balcony area. While the view was great for most of the show, I wouldn't recommend the seats because we missed some of the on stage action from our vantage point.

You will LOVE it!! We saw it about 2-3 years ago in Chicago and just loved the whole show! Found out it's finally coming to Indy next year! :cool1:

I love the gal who's playing Glinda in the Chicago production now! She originated the role or Margot in Legally Blonde the Musical and then went on to play Glinda in the Broadway version of Wicked before coming to the Chicago production. She is a great actress! I'm kinda sad that I won't get to see her in the role of Glinda...since the show's coming here next year, DH won't take me to see it in Chicago this year...lol

No, take me to see it, Shorts! I still haven't seen it, and I can't find any willing participants to see it with me. :)

Im hopefully going to see it over the summer! I asked my friend if she wanted to come, who asked some more people, so we have a very nice little group! We are planning dates now!

My kids are not very happy that they don't get to go with us. But, we are shipping them off to Grandma's house. We are going to the 2 o'clock show. Have you ever heard of the Allerton Hotel? We are thinking of staying there. It's downtown without being $400.

I can't believe you live in Chicago and haven't seen it. But, we live only a few hours away and very rarely get to Chicago.

My DD11 has been singing "Popular" from Wicked nonstop! And I can't get it out of my head now.:faint:
She and a friend even did it for the 5th grade talent show... quite well, I might add! Too bad we can't see the show anywhere around here...:sad2:
She is ready to have a career in Musical Theater after her experience with oour local university's production of Peter Pan where she got to dance and sing as an Indian.
I did love the years she spent singing all the Disney Princess songs...

YOu are sooo lucky- can't wait to see it next year!! :goodvibes

My DD7 LOVES that song and wants to sing it in church. Not sure if that's the best venue, but oh well :)

Nicole -- I don't know if you've actually purchased your tickets yet, but I just noticed on Costco's website that they have tickets available for Chicago at what appear to be really good prices (they also have LA) and the dates run now thru some days in July...so I guess it's some kind of short notice discount.

Thanks. We aren't member, so I can't even see what the discount is. We have not bought tickets yet, because we have are big ol procrastinators. We are also thinking of buying a house, so if we did that, we might not go :( Yeah to the house :( to not going.

Sorry, I didn't know you had to put a membership number in to see pricing. When I looked it was $53 for center seats in the orchestra section (for anyone else that might be interested). I hope you get to go, but a new house would be fabo!
