Next year we are going to WDW in June following a stay at Universal. As it will be at the end of the first week, early morning mode will have well and truly disappeared (except for days to Seaworld and Busch) and we were thinking of hitting the parks later and having lie ins instead (particularly important with a teenage DD)

It's some time since we did EMH's and wondered how busy they will be mid June?

As a side note noticed that Disney had extended the free dining today to end November (except no $150 gift card) - glad we booked a couple of days ago - except we can't see our booking now - nothing comes up when I key in the booking refernce - could it be that they are just updating the site?

Free DDP offer expires 30th Nov, has done all along, it was only the $150 gift card that expired on the 15th. I posted in another thread a few days ago people were getting confused about this.

when are you going in june?

i think it depends if you're there at the beginning or the end..

i was at WDW at the end of june last year and it was absolutely heaving with people....terribly terribly terribly terribly crowded...but that was at the end of june...

i found the only way i could cope with the crowds was early in the morning...
evening EMH seemed very crowded to me the one time i happened upon it by mistake...

but if you're going in early june, perhaps it won't be that bad..

Evening EMH are really hit and miss. There is no way of telling unless you go. But if you want any chance of it being quieter, you have to stick it out to the end. Unlike morning EMH where nobody but the early bird resort guests are in the park when you arrive, evening EMH starts off with a park full of people, many of whom got into a line for a ride/restaurant before official park closing even although they don't qualify for onsite EMH privileges. So the first 60 to 90 minutes are generally pretty busy. We have seen both: dead park in the last hour or so of evening EMH and also fought crowds to the exit right at the end.

by the way, when i say early in the morning, i don't mean morning EMH, i mean just regular early in the morning......at rope drop but not EMH..

we used to do morning EMH but it means getting up too early in the morning..

so for the past few visits, our strategy has been to avoid parks with morning or evening EMH, and always get to the park for rope drop..

Last June we did EMH at EPCOT and MK. EPCOT was open till midnight and a lot busier than we had been expecting. MK was busy too, but not as bad as EPCOT, probably because there are more rides at MK. MK was open until 2am that night, once it got past midnight it quietened down considerably.

Thanks

We are going on the 7th June but only moving over to Disney on the 12th. Park hours are almost showing and at the end of May, it says that MK has an evening EMH on Sundays, which would be good as it will be DH's birthday on Sunday 17th.

Been to Disney lots (usually TRY to do rope drop) but not done an evening EMH for some time (last one at Epcot about 4/5 years ago) - avoided due to all the reasons described but DD will be 18 on the 13th June and obviously a lot older and more able to stick it out till the end.

on our trip in august, we thought we'd make it to at least one MK evening EMH, but somehow we just never did....
MK had evening EMH in August on both Sunday and Friday ...
we were there for 2 weeks and really thought we'd make it for at least one of them....we thought it would be cool to be in the park until 2 AM....
but we were just so exhausted from spending the entire day at the parks, that we didn't bother with EMH....

but our august trip was different from any other we've ever done...
we spent the entire days in the parks - we never went back to the hotel for a break...
i'm not sure how we did it as it was hotter than hades, but we did...
probably because of the dining plan....since we took a very long air conditioned break for lunch/dinner, that was all we needed to carry on....
so unlike in the past, when we went back to the room in the afternoon, we didn't do that this time...so maybe because of that, we just weren't up for evening EMH....

Thanks

MK has Evening EMH on Sundays most of the year - it changes in the middle of September through till Xmas I think when they have the parties in MK.

PS your husband has a great birthday :thumbsup2 We fly out on the 16th so won't be at EMH but hoping to get CRT for breakfast as DD birthday is the 11th and mine the 17th :thumbsup2
