Hey all,

Newbie here. My wife and I are going to Hilton Head for the first time in April. Anyone want to share their experiences there?

Thanks in advance. :earsboy:

We went there in April of 2003 and had a very nice trip. The resort is beautiful. It was a little chilly for me to swim at the resort, but did swim at the beach house--both pools are heated, but it seemed warmer at the beach house. We were there during a golf tournament, so there were crowds, but not bad. We loved it.

NCRedding,

Thanks for the info. We are morning swimmers so that helps. :flower:

Hop on over to the DVC board, and you'll find more than you ever wanted to know about HHI. We've been there twice in late April, and the weather was perfect - 80 degrees and sunny every day. This was a bit unusual, though - they do have rain - we've just never seen any.

Have a great trip!

We go to Hilton Head every year. We have a free condo, so never have stayed at Disney.

The whole island is a blast. Make sure to venture out. We toured the disney property last trip. In my opinion, you would have to venture out. Not many restarurants at the Disney Resort. And very small gift shop. The pools looked fun, and the property very nice.

Some Retaurant that are good: Crazy Crab, Sea shack (This one is a local favorite- Nothing fancy, in fact looks kind of dumpy- but SOOO MUCH FOOD), Lands End Tavern, and Sticky Fingers.

If you really like the tourist stuff- Don't forget Salty Dog- We don't eat there, because it is overpriced- but the area around there is alot of fun. Lots of cute shops, and good restaurants, bars.

IMO- Hilton Head restaurants make the BEST Bloody Marys. A bloody mary, and a bucket of Shrimp, and you are good to go.

Other than that ----HAVE FUN!

We've been to HHI twice, but never stayed at Disney. If you have kids, one thing we love to do is the Shannon Tanner concert at Shelter Cove Harbor. It's free and the kids get to go on stage and sing & dance. It's a lot of fun. And it's walking distance from the Disney resort there. There is also another guy who does concerts in Harbortown, but he wasn't performing when we went in May.

Just a heads up, HHI is very different from most beach resort towns. I grew up going to the Gulf Coast, where you see high rise hotels/condos and beach and that's about it. At HHI, you can't even see the beach from the main street on the island. But the beach is awesome. We love to rent bikes & bike on the beach.

Have a great time!

Thanks to all for the great info. I too love bloody marys so that and the bucket of shrimp sound fantastic. :bounce:
