We are hoping to do the stingray excursion with Capt. Marvin next month, but I would also like to go to Hell before we head back to the ship.

In another post, someone mentioned having taken a taxi from wherever Marvin's office is to Hell and back.

Are taxis readily available in that area and what was the cost? Also, how long did the trip take? I am not planning on staying there too long, but I cannot resist the temptation to send some postcards from there and take a few photos.

Thank you!:sunny:

I was just in Hell On the 9th of February. Our Stingray excursion was canceled due to high winds and we were delayed in getting off our ship by about 2 hours. Had we not originally booked an excursion I think we would not have ever been able to tender over. Anyway, we found the public bus terminal in town and took the public bus around to see the sights. The charge was $2.50 US each way. The public busses are VW vans with extra jump seats to pack more people in. Don't expect much LOL. As far as I know they run all day up and down that area, Just look for a VW van that has a colored dot. I think green was the bus we took. I found this information at this website:

There is not a whole lot to see in Hell, but I met the devil himself and got a kiss LOL. We also sent postcards from Hell and they took exactly 1 week to get to The chicago suburbs. I wish I could post my pictures from there. I would say it is a "must see" just to say you been to Hell and back!!!

I wish I had thought of booking a different excursion when we found out ours was canceled. The snorkling still went on. Have fun in Hell.
Oh we ate at a place called Baybreeze right by our tender spot. They had very very good Conch fritters and a cold beer tasted good on a hot day. Have fun!!!!!! Melissa

Sorry, you asked how long the trip was....well we spent about 20 minutes in Hell, shopping at the little gift shop and taking pictures. Our bus driver had told us he would come back in 20 minutes and he had to wait for one in our party who was not feeling well. The bus trip back to town was about 20 minutes. Maybe if you email Capt Marvins they will be open to stopping there so you can take a few pics. It was very interesting to hear from the Devils daughter ( who worked in the shop) about his life. His name is Ivan and he owns the property that they call hell. Oh yea....he found out I was a bus driver and offered me a job..how funny is that...the devil offerend me a job to drive a tour bus in hell!!!! LOL Have fun! Melissa

Hi,
i just got back from the Disney Cruise to the western caribbean and i did the turtle farm/Stingray excursion. Great Excursion!! Recommend it to everyone...we got a great tour of the island and learned alot about how the people lived...and right before we went to the stingrays we got to stop in Hell.....its very small, intresting and much like a tourist trap..but it was fun to get our picture taken in front of the Hell Post office........so instead of taxi service....take this excurion..it was worth it.

mynokneesok:
was this an DCL excursion, or did you do it through Captain Marvins? :wave2:

We need to send BoardwalkBabe a handbasket so she can "go to hell in a handbasket"

Send that basket right on over, please! <grins>

I looked at the DCL excursion and my primary concern was that it doesn't mention how much time you have to snorkel at Stingray City and that is our priority. I don't want to feel like I'm being rushed, which is why I looked into Captain Marvin's for that part of our day.

Oh well - I have to make a decision soon before we end up with no excursions because we waited too long to book!
