Like everyone else we are trying to go to Disneyland while the kids are on break. My kids get out on the 8th of December. What is the week like, say from the 12th-16th? There is no way I want to deal with the week after Christmas with all the crowds.

The last time we went the second week in October and loved it! Hardly any lines. Our oldest is now in college and really can't afford to take time off from classes so we have to really work around schedules.

Thank you for any help!

You might want to ask this over on the DLR boards, but since I am a DLR veteran I will try to answer your questions. :thumbsup2

That week will not be as crowded as the following two. However, the weekends will be VERY BUSY because many of the locals come to see the Holiday decor/fireworks. But the weekdays shouldn't be nearly as crowded.
I believe most schools have the weeks of Dec 21st and 28th off.

BTW - October is now very very busy at DLR. Check out the Disneyland board!

Have fun!:)

oh, sorry about that! Thanks for moving it. I did a quick google search to find a board to ask my question on and this one popped up, so it was my first post :).

We wanted to take the kids to Disneyland but are having a really hard time finding the right time. We live in Oregon and we drive down. Before we homeschooled so we could go whenever we wanted but now with the oldest in college classes that just is not an option, so I guess I have to go with everyone else!

I had no idea about October, I loved it then because the weather was perfect (remember, we are from Oregon!) and hardly any crowds.

Thanks for your help, I'll have to check with the rest of the family but maybe those weekdays before Christmas would work for us.

I'm planning on going that week too and *hoping* that it's not crowded.
Last year I went Dec. 21-24 and it was craaazy!

Crowd levels during the weeks before Christmas but after Thanksgiving have usually been very nice. I have been several times in early December and with the lower crowds and cold weather it's a wonderful time to see DLR with all of it's Christmas decor.

We will be there those EXACT dates. :) The weekend will probably be crowded, the weekdays should be better. :)

Thank you all VERY much, I think maybe we'll do that week and skip the weekends, I just hate too many crowds. I read on another Disney board that the California schools don't get out until 18th, so maybe we can sneak in there before huge crowds. Guess we'll cross our fingers for those weekdays :)

Since we are on the topic

I am going for one day on December 18, Friday. Planning to be there at opening and do the rides, have late lunch at Blue Bayuee (sp) (already have reservation) and then stroll and look at the lights at night. How bad will the crowds be

That day is our last in the park before we head home. I am expecting it to be very busy since the whole next week is vacation for most schools. There are probably lots of people coming into town. Friday nights tend to be busy anyway even on the off seasons since the locals head there after school and work.

Agreed! The SoCal select is blocked out that day, but the reg socal pass isn't blocked until the 19th.

We are going the 18-23, and I am planning on super busy.

We have been there the week before that, and it was great with just crowds at night and on weekends. However, based on how October has been, it may be busy the whole month of December.
