Hey everyone,
Been lurking on disboards for a lonnngg time and just learned that my faimly and I will all be going to disneyland for labor day weekend!!

We will all be going to the park the 3rd and 4th which I know is the marathon weekend and probably going to be very very busy. My family will be flying back home on that Monday but I am staying in California until Thursday or Friday of that week.

I would like to go to legoland during this trip at some point also and wanted to get your opinions on a couple of different possibilities.

Plan 1
3-4 DLR
5 Legoland
6-8 or 9th san Francisco to see cousin and tour san Francisco

Plan 2
3-5 DLR
6 Legoland
7-8 or 9th san Francisco

Plan 3
3-4 DLR
5 Legoland
6-DLR
7-8 or 9th San Francisco

Plan 4
3-4 DLR
5 Legoland
6-8 or 9th DLR no San Francisco.

The reasons for not going to DLR on the 5th is that is labor day and I would assume it would be very very busy on that day. Also san francisco is not a must do thing, just would be nice, but is 4-5 days at DLR too much disneyland? well I guess there is never too much disneyland. I would not be too interested in going to sea world or any of the other parks.

Thanks for any advice or tips you all have!!

Have you ever been to Disneyland before? You need at minimum three days, more, I'd say, if it's your very first visit. So, with that being said, the only plan of yours that I'd even consider is plan 2 that give you three days in the parks. Also, I would suggest going to Legoland first for two reasons. The first is that Legoland is at least 60-90 minutes (depending on traffic) south of Disneyland, so it doesn't make sense to start in Anaheim, travel south, then travel north to San Fran. The second reason is that Disneyland is better than Legoland, so going there first might make Legoland seem rather "blah".

Were you planning to drive to San Fran?? It's at least a 6.5 hour drive from Anaheim. That's quite the haul, especially if you're flying out of SoCal once the San Fran leg would be over. While San Fran is awesome and there's tons to see, I'm not sure it's worth it for just a day or two in San Fran if it means at that much of a road trip!

Thanks for the reply!!
The 2 days at first at disneyland cant be changed as that is when the whole family will be there. The 2nd part of the trip, basicly monday(labor day) on is all just going to be me. I have been to disneyland once before but I was like 8 and barely remember it.

I would be flying from home to LA the friday before the first day at disneyland, then flying to san francisco and then flying from SF home. If I was to go to SF which is still up in the air. if not I would fly out of LA back home.

Oh thank goodness you're not driving hah! I didn't want to be a downer, but that really is a far way to go for just a day or two. So, just to clear up some confusion, you would be going to Legoland alone? Legoland is really a park for young kids so I'm not sure it's worth the expense of admission and hassle of driving there as an adult going alone, but I guess that's for you to determine, not me.

If you wanted one more day at Disneyland, Labor Day might not be so bad if you're alone. There are several rides between both the parks that have a Single Rider Line, which basically allows you to cut to the front of the line as long as you're willing to sit with strangers wherever there is an empty seat. I do this all the time when I go up solo for day trips and I get tons accomplished.

oh how things change in the span of a few hours, and planning a disney trip.

My gf is coming with me on the trip so all those days at the park wont be alone actually.

I have decided to not go to san francisco I agree with you it is just too much effort for such little time.

Reason for legoland is I am an AFOL(adult fan of lego) and it is a must do activity for me. I know such a nerd lol.

Another question, anyone have any experience switching hotels in california in the middle of the trip? Reason I ask is my family is all staying at the disneyland hotel for the marathon, a couple of family members are running in it and the rest of their running group is also staying there. I am thinking about saving a bit of money and moving to another hotel. I did not see any option for this on the disney site and would assume I would have to call them that is if I wanted to book it all through Disney, which some of the benefits like the embassy suites breakfast sound really good. And I think that is only if you book with Disney you get that free breakfast.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

Booking through Disney is almost always more expensive than booking everything separately. If you want to save money, I would just book a hotel on Harbor on your own and buy your tickets online through Disneyland.com. The perks that you get for booking a complete package through Disney are not worth the extra price in my opinion (things like reserved seating at Muppets and It's Tough to Be a Bug and entry to Toon Town Morning Madness).
