going to disney&uni again! Sep 2011

Yeah, I figure that one Molly. I love her to death but......I suffer from no illusions.

So, Kacy is completely signed up for college. Her Pell Grant came through so that was a major relief.

Oh good. Maybe Robert can get some good rest tonight.

Exciting and nerve wracking. I wasn't sure whether the Pell Grant came through or not until this morning. I was sweating it out badly.

Michele, that's good news about Kacy! It is a little nerve-wracking to have a child going off to college - even if they are close by! It changes lots of family dynamics - at least it did for us. :confused3 And hooray for the pell grant - I lived off those things when I was in college a long time ago......

This is maybe a hypothetical, maybe not. We won't know until we get right up to the trip.

You are traveling to meet up with extended family. They have season passes, so they haven't been to WDW all summer. They have just moved, and while the new place is a sweet, sweet deal, they still have to pay the mortgage on their old place, and there is some stress.

That family might not be able to buy tickets for WDW while you are there at WDW. (the aunt and the now-4 year old have tickets, actually)

There will be 4 nights, up to 5 days, at WDW.

They have said "when you get back from the parks each day we'll have so much fun!" and other things like that.

But the idea of going to the parks without them feels horrid. The idea of not going to the parks for those days ALSO feels horrid.

What on earth would you do?

Shannon, Kacy will be here at home but it is kind of scary and nerve wracking. I cannot tell you what a relief it was when it showed online that all of her fees had been paid.

Molly, that is a tough one. The cost of tickets is so high I understand. I would feel the worst for their kids. Don't they have a son near E's age? Maybe you can get him a ticket? I am not sure what I would do. I know that it would put a bit of a guilt damper for me on those days.

Buying the cousin a ticket would be a nice idea. We could take the kids to the parks. And it's an amount of money that wouldn't destroy us, but it also wouldn't be horrifically pushy for the parents. Hmm.

2 weird things just happened. One, the vacuum just started smoking. Two, I went to track my printer-ink order, and it managed to go from Long Beach to Anchorage. Did someone forget to take it off the plane at seatac? (or Boeing Field, not sure where US Mail planes land) Odd. The CS rep cracked up when she saw that...as I had done not 5 minutes before!

But I do need that printer ink. We're getting close! If we had a package deal, we'd be coming up on final-payment time. I have things to print! And I would prefer that they NOT be funky washed out pink everywhere instead of the proper colors. :)

ETA...just remembered that one of the reasons for not being sure if they are buying tix for the parents and son is timing. They want to get more on track with their daughter's ticket (I sometimes think that can be a mistake, b/c instead of one at a time you have to plunk down this huge amount of cash all at once). And they are thinking of Universal, which would be totally fine if they wanted to play at Universal during the OKW stay...though it does add to our expenses as we would all have to get APs instead of one AP (for discounts) and 4 day tickets for the other two of us.

That is odd about your ink. That makes no sense at all.:rotfl:

My day has been spent with a shelter in place. I imposed it on us before the officials did.

This is a picture of it from our street. It was starting to slow down a bit then. It burned for hours. It was a plastic plant. They are highly toxic fires, and totally scary for me. Scotty works at a plastics plant.

Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought that was a tornado at first.

I'm guessing it's not smelling so good b/c of the plastic...if what the vacuum here smells like is any tiny indication.

It does look like a tornado doesn't it?

And I think you may need a new vacuum.

Me, too.

Watching a Saturday Night Live special; the best of Alec Baldwin. I know he has some demons...but he's always been fabulous on SNL. And my goodness I forgot how skinny he used to be! (and how black his hair used to be)

I know Alec Baldwin has his demons as you put it but I think he is funny. He has a natural funniness. Almost casually able to fit into the characters.

It was pretty massive. I was amazed that none of the factory was destroyed it was all storage. They were so lucky no one was hurt and that alone was a miracle. What really got me was the fact that our city tried to say that the fire was no more dangerous than a grass fire which is bologna.

What really got me was the fact that our city tried to say that the fire was no more dangerous than a grass fire which is bologna.

My goodness, really? In this day and age with the ability to research like an expert literally at our fingertips, and the city tries to sell you on that?

This has been a loooong trip of Robert's, though he's actually been gone longer in the past.

We got the DVD of E's recital yesterday, and E is on his third watching of it. Since it's nearly 2 hours long, that's saying something! Within the first 5 minutes of watching it, I said, truthfully, "wow, this actually IS worth the $27 they charged for it". Always glad to get something that's worth the money!

This is Y's breakweek, which means it's very difficult for me to get over to work out! If I can get in today and the next 3 days, that gives me the same 4 days as last week that I felt so good about. Robert says he's lost weight during this trip, that everything has changed b/c of the oxygen he's getting to his brain during sleep, and now he has tummy troubles, so it sounds like he's coming home a changed man! Therefore I need to make sure I do the workouts.

I know. I think that our city is worried to let people know because there are three plastic plants here. Scotty works at one of them so we are only to well aware of how dangerous that fire is. Scotty was having panic attacks yesterday and I am sure that part of it is from seeing that fire.

That's great that Eamon enjoys watching it that much. I have bought all these cds from band concerts and I am the only one that ever listens to them. :rotfl:

Wow it is amazing the difference it has made for Robert.

Yay! I'm so happy oxygen is helping him. It's a necessary part of weight loss. He's been doing remarkably well with the oxygen he's getting - but, man, this could really help him.

Does E critique himself when he watches the video or does he just enjoy seeing the parts that he was involved in? It's always hard to know, as a performer, how your performance really looks - since you are in it and not watching!

He's not critical, he seems to really enjoy it. :) He did get tired of me clapping for him after the 4th time through. I should see if I can get an image of the dresses the girls in his dance had...they were lovely. Everyone at the recital had costumes, but some were cooler than others. Theirs were among my very favorite and they bell out just beautifully when the girls are spinning.

Now, I can see things that he could work on, but I've kept my mouth shut. If he continues, his teachers can work on it with him.

Did I tell you that he put his costume on in order to watch it the first time through? :goodvibes He was *boiling* in it, as it's a once-piece thing meant to look like a white shirt and black pants, and it's nylon or a thin polyester on top and velvet on the bottom...poor kid!
