Going to AKL!

We've finally decided on a resort. I booked a Savanah room for AKL for June! It's only over a month away, and I don't know much about the resort. We are very excited! Thanks.

When in May will you be at AKL? We live in Harvest and will be there May 7-10.

We will be there 5/16 - 5/19! Can't wait! I booked a standard view room all we could afford - but I heard they have alot of places in the hotel to view the animals!

Haven't stayed there yet...but we have a trip booked for Sept. We decided to stay here after visiting on our last trip. The resort is gorgeous!!! I never had any desire to stay here until I saw it in person. Pictures just don't do it justice.
As far as a room request....from what I've heard...Arusha savannah on zebra trail...seems to be a good request. I believe Arusha savannah is the only one with both zebras and giraffes.
The pool is huge and they also have 2 jacuzzis. They have 2 full service restaraunts and a food court. We did Boma's for breakfast and we loved it.
Do you have any specific questions? I don't know the answers from personal experience but I have researched the resort quite a bit.

I don't know much about it either - but from what I have gathered from the boards is that it is a very nice resort - and people rave about the restaurant Boma (a buffet with African and American foods) and Jiko (a very nice upscale restaurant). They also have a food court Mara that offers the usual food court fare (hamburgers, chicken fingers, etc..). I believe the hotel is 5 stories and each room has a balcony. The resort has many viewing spots inside as well as outside to see the animals. The pool is also one of the largest on disney property! Enjoy your stay!

Disney has out-done itself with AKL. We were so impressed with this resort that we cancelled our Disney cruise for this coming December and booked 11 nights at the AKL. We found we had to tear ourselves away from the resort to go to the parks. It was incredible! There are plenty of animal viewing spots all over the hotel, so even if you are in a pool or standard view, you will definitely see the wildlife. I highly recommend Boma as it became one of our Disney favorites on the last trip. We're planning on giving Jiko a try in December. If you have any other specific questions, ask away!

The only problem I might have is I really like total Disney isolation. It seems like AKL is really close the outside world. Is this true? Are there any outside streets, resteraunts, etc. in sight? Thanks again!

If you are really high....or you are in one of the rooms that overlook the parking lot, you can see a few signs and things (no streets or cars) from Highway 192 (especially at night). Other than that, the only thing that you can see is the savannahs or pool.
