I have decided to go to a tanning bed, I had went several years back and did like it alot. Then I did not go for the past three year's. My girlfriends DD went to Cancun, and came home with second degree burn from the hot sun. My other girlfriend lives in Florida and she told me it is getting to be very hot there now. A few years ago me and DD went to WDW in early May, I remember it being very very hot.

So I have decided to go and get a nice base tan, this way I will not burn while on my trip.. Nothing worse than sunburn while on vacation. Anyone else do this?

Nope, I use sunscreen to keep from getting burned.

I've never done it, but my DD has. I don't let her go all the time, just a week here and there. It does make for a nice, even tan, rather than those goofy strap lines.

My 19 yo niece goes to one. She's pretty brown. We asked what she wore while in the tanning bed and she said goggles and slippers. So... I said "no headlights huh?".

We also told her that it was bad for her and that if she continued she'd end up brown, shriveled and wrinkled by age 35. She (hopefully jokingly) said it would be worth it.

No tanning beds for me, I think the risk far outweighs the tan.

I'd rather be pale and alive than dead with a good tan. JMHO.

Tanning beds are very bad for you. They can cause skin cancer, in the same way that the sun's ray can. Not to mention the wrinkling before your time. And the sagging skin.

Not worth it. Go get a good self tanning cream/spray, and use a good sunscreen on vacation.

I agree, but for me, I use an SPF 30 or higher and over 10 days there, barely add a shade of color. Works great, once a day in the AM, plus a hat. Just trying to protect against melanoma, very deadly.

I go, every year around this time, to get my base tan. I don't use the beds, though...too hard on my back. I like the stand up booths. When I first start back, I go Monday, Wednesday & Friday. The next week, I start going once a week, usually on Mondays.

I've used tanning beds for yrs to get a base tan...hubby started doing the same about 4 yrs ago. Be sure to keep your skin moisturized!!! Also, just because you have a base tan, that doesn't mean that it's a "free for all" in the FL sun....you'll still want to use sunscreen, wear a hat, and drink plenty of water.

Hope this helps!

Ginny :)
