Going Solo to MNSSHP on 22 September...Anyone else?

Greetings!

The looooong time lurker is back. I haven't posted on the boards for YEARS! I've been working overseas, and am now working in Canada. By my username, you can see I used to live in California, too. I've lurked the boards all these years, waiting to come back to this side of the Pacific Ocean so I could plan another trip to WDW, and now I'm back!

Anyhoo, I've planned a trip in September with my sister (who's never been) to coincide with the Night of Joy concerts. We'll be at AKL together for nine nights. THEN! She goes home and I'll be solo for five more nights. I did it this way, so as a newbie, we can do exactly what she wants (or doesn't want) and I still get to do what I want after she flies home.

So I've already bought my ticket for MNSSHP on 22 September. I’ve never been to the party, but heard so many cool things about it. Thought it might be funner to do the party and trick-or-treating with someone, as opposed to going alone. BTW - I'm in my mid-40's, but still way too young at heart.

Anyone else planning on going to the party that night?

Sorry for my slow reply. My internet service is on the fritz. Sometimes I have signal, sometimes not.

In any case, if you're willing to meet and hang out for a bit on Tuesday, the 22nd in the evening, that would be great!

I'll PM you when my internet service is more reliable.

Intermittent internet the horror it will be fun going round the party with someone else are you going to be wearing a costume? There is a UK dis meet at Kona cafe and I believe a few of them will be going to the party as well.

Paula - My costume plans to-date include wearing giraffe ears/horns, a giraffe print shirt (whole shirt looks like giraffe skin), and khaki shorts. That will probably be the extent of my "dressing up". You have any plans for a costume? I'm not from the UK, but I've visited at least a half dozen times. Maybe I'll just meet you and the Brits at the MK gates...

That's the way to do it!
Last year was my first year in ages, and first time onsite: I spent 1 wk solo onsite and after that joined cousin & family offsite, and proceeded to cover the same territory/rides as Wk 1!
It was a totally great trip, but I quickly realized how much more fulfilling it would be if I had a week after to fill in the gaps.
So this year I have 1 week with cousin on site at POR (orig POP, but switched to POR) and a couple days after she goes, I move on over to YC (woo hoo F&W, and woo hoo SAB!).

I went to MNSSHP last year - had never heard of it before, and it was great!! The parade and the fireworks were amazing.
Crowds were low for most rides. And free candy is a bonus.
I'm planning on either the 15 or the 22- (think cousin has other plans for us in the 18th, and as she arrives late late on the 15th and leaves on the 22nd, that rules MNSSHP out for her).
Definitely wearing a costume of some sort- not a big getup, just whatever I can do using t-shirt/capris as a base. Nothing heavy! I've several ideas, just have to figure which to go with.

Funny that you mention Giraffe, because one of my ideas was pink clothing, w/ a pigs tail and pig ears! Another was cow print tshirt, cow ears and a cow tail... and a cowbell around my neck!......hmmm... zoo or farm?

Why not just pop over the UK dis meet?

Paula - You're probably right. Meeting you over at the Poly would be a bit simpler. And meeting friendly DIS'ers is always fun! I'm taking it easy that day, so I can do lots of the party that night, so I'll be free to get to the Poly beforehand. Are you planning to dress up for MNSSHP?

If Mike doesn't beat me to the UK DIS Meet Thread to ask if crashing by Americans is allowed, I'll do so.

WalkingintheFog - Are you planning on joining us on the 22nd in barnyard attire?!? That would be a hoot!

Hey Mike and Paula-

I posted over on the DIS Meet Board and the other Brits (just like our kind Paula) have no issue with Americans crashing their shindig. So I'll be meeting Paula over there in the afternoon before MNSSHP. Now I'll just have to work on keeping sober at the Poly so I can make it through the night without wanting to go to bed early!
