Hi, it looks like I might be going to Dis Con II without my dear hubby. He wants us to go to London in April, so he said for me go by myself.
I have never gone by myself, so I have mixed feelings.
I don't know if I should drive or try to get a good air fare. Not sure If I'll be able to stay at Swam or Dolphin now.
I don't want to spend the money on just ME. Does that make sense???

Now I just want the information out before I have surgery next Friday ( 21st). If the sign ups are during the time I'm in the hospital, will there be a spot left after I get back on line for me???

Okay, I'm going to go breathe now..

Thanks
linda

Linda,

You'll have a great time going solo. There were many of us there that went solo, whether or not they left husbands, wives, kids, or s.o.'s at home. I figure if your DH is going to London, perhaps it's time for DW (you) to have a good time as well, without feeling guilty about spending money on "just you."

How's that for a justification? ;)

Thanks Disneycub,

I'm more worried about being there by myself I'm not a very good "loner".
I think he knows how much I want to go to DIS CON to meet you all.. that he wants at least one of us to go..

Anyone else going a lone?? Do you need a roomie???

Thanks again
Linda

Linda, LOTS of people will be there solo. And "solo" is NOT synonymous with "alone"! In fact - there will be so much going on that you may have to plan some "alone time" just to rest!

My guess is that if registration is anything like it was last year - it will fill up within one day. So - have a friend keep tabs on the DIS while you are in the hospital (hope all goes well for you).

Linda, there's no need to worry about going alone. We didn't leave anyone out that didn't want to be left out. The solo attendee's tended to gravitate to each other and we had a ball. Just make sure you sign up for the events where you see a lot of the singles signing up. Also, there are a lot of events that include all attendees, so you'll get to meet just about everyone at some point or another. As far as staying at the Swan or Dolphin goes, it's my understanding that you can get some great rates there, even if you are staying alone. A lot of the convention activities take place in the EPCOT area, so it's really a great convenience to stay at the EPCOT resorts. I highly recommend this, if you can.

I will be going first time SOLO as well....

Staying at BC as a new DVC member - - WOO HOO!!

PM me if you want but I promise you that if I am there, you will have
a great time.

In fact, DIS CON II is the only way I would do this solo!!

I'm planning on going on my own and travelling across from the UK for it - and I just know that everyone is going to be sooooo friendly and that it'll be such fun that I probably won't even miss my other half!!

Last year there was a some 'anxiety' of traveling solo to DIS-Con......and we joked about people having to schedule 'alone time' into their itineraries IF they wanted to be alone.......and you know what? It was NO joke! :earseek: There was barely enough time to get back to my room on most days.....just to freshen up. The only 'alone time' I had was when I my head hit the pillow! And that was usually for no more than 4-5 hours per night. :earseek: LOL ;) :D :p All of you solo travelers will see DISney in a new light.....and I think you'll like it alot......I did. :)

Thanks everyone.. I'm have no more fears of going solo..

Can't wait to meet you all, and run around together...

Linda

We did have a great time with each other, didn't we? I was listening to the Illuminations CD last night. What a wonderful flood of memories! It was an amazing time that I will never forget.

Honest, solo is a great way to go to DIS Con!!!
We had ( and WILL have) a blast!!!

Hi everyone!

If I can make it, I will be going to DISCON II solo. I'm not worried about being in WDW on my own as I have spent alot of time doing things on my own even when there with family and friends (2 weeks can ba a loooooooooooooooong time with family sometimes:D , only kidding).

I can't wait to meet everyone here on the DIS. It sounds like DISCON I was such a blast that I can't wait for DISCON II!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

See you all there (hopefully  ).

Another solo person here. BUT I do kow at least one person already. I am a little nervous about flying by myself though. I'veflown by myself before but now it makes me a little aprehensive. I could never afford to go to DIS CON if I had to comewith my family. It's much cheaper to go it alone.

Wow, reading this has helped me to feel so much better about going alone. I just recently decided that I AM going to go and DH will be at home with the cats. You all are so reasurring and great to listen to :D

I'll be going single, too.

I was not a true commando, because I got a little tired and I missed the great times at JellyRolls and the Adventurer's Club and the Keys to the Kingdom Tour.

You'll have so much to do you'll have to plan down time...not...hahaha!

I'm hoping to go to Discon and I'll be going by myself. I can't imagine going to do this with the kids. I hate the idea of going without them but I know I wouldn't be spending enough time with them. I can't wait!

I have been solo on every trip I have evertaken to WDW, except one, with my family. I was looking at going solo again this Dec, but with all the 'activity' of the past two weeks on the DIS, and Marie seeing so many very nice people, there is a 'crack in the wall' that it may not be solo after all. Timewill tell. In any case, solo is great at WDW, especially at DIS-Con.

kejoda, I think you just echoed my thoughts on how I feel about leaving DH. I have never gone solo to WDW and if all goes well I will be at DIS Con solo. I really don't want to leave Luis behind, but at the same time, I know he will 'whine' and get bored with all of it. So instead of not being able to keep him happy or leave him alone at a place he only sort of likes, he will be at home watching our cats!

Ya know I never ever gave a thought to going anywhere alone......but the more I think about it, the better it sounds! Not only is it a bad time for my kids to go , as they refuse to miss one day of school (dont know where these kids came from LOL),....but the more I think about it, the idea of doing whatever I please,,,,the more I like it! :) Now if I can just sell hubby on the idea......(easier said than done):D ;) :jester: :p  Mae
