going rate to rake leaves?

My son wants to earn some extra money by offering to rake leaves in our neighborhood. Since we usually do it ourselves, we're not sure what the going rate is for this.

Most homes are on approx. .25-acre lots with good-sized trees. He plans to rake to the curb (which is what most people do, since we have municipal leaf pick-up), but if someone wants him to bag, he thinks he could offer that as an extra fee.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be most welcome!

Thanks!

If it WASN'T a whole tree "drop", I'd say $20. If it was a whole tree drop, one time thing, I'd say $40.

Our yard is about that size.

We have 1/2 acre. Lots of trees, mostly oaks. When I was lucky enough to have a teenage nephew who wanted to make some $, I paid him $100 to do the yard. It usually took him two full days. We have to bag our leaves.

My Mom just paid 125 for a service to come do her leaves. She lives on a small lot in a Boston suburb but has a couple of big trees. They will bag it for her.

I can't help you with the going rate for leaves but I wanted to let you know that raking the leaves onto a tap and then pulling the tarp to the curb and dumping the leaves really saves time and energy.

We have .22 acre lot and they have to be bagged in those paper lawn bags for this city to pick them up. I know from past years we have about 100 bags. We pay $2 bag and we offer an extra $75 if the person wants to haul them to the mulching facility in a truck because then I don't have to buy bags!
So... $200 to bag and $275 to rake and haul away.

Since the city will pick them up for you and you don't have to bag, I think somewhere in the neighborhood of $50-75 for the whole yard. Bagging them is so tedious.

Ah you bunch of cityfolks.... Run a lawnmower with a mulching blade around the yard and leave them be. They are good for the grass. :thumbsup2 I haven't raked leaves in 13 years since I moved away from all the yuppieness of town.
