How come whenever I'm going away theres always this huge panic and things start to go against me!?
Last week my 13 month old got ill, had to take him to hospital - bad ear infection, gave him anti-biotics - which gave him thrush in he's little mouth. After several dummy swaps my 3 year old now has the lurgy from him and the thrush big time. they are both crying all the time!
So now I have 2 ill children, 3 late night shifts in work, suitcases to pack, washing to do and money to get out of the building society and exchange...!
We are leaving for Gatwick hilton on saturday and when i get in that car i just hope the weight of the world lifts off my shoulders or i'll have a stressful holiday! :rotfl:

I'm so sorry everything seems to be going against you at the moment, but you'll see, as soon as you close that front door behind you, everything will fall into place, and you will have a wonderful holiday! There is no such thing as stress on a Florida holiday!

I'm always surprised about how stressed I get before I go on holiday - trying to sort out work, pack, organise everything! But as soon as we leave the house, all that just seems to lift, and finally the chill out starts.

I really hope your children feel better soon....just try to breath slowly, count to 20, and start again!

Have a fantastic time :sunny:

Its funny how bad things happen just before your holiday, we go on Wednesday and last night my husband manage to break the lawnmower, the printer for the computer and then the door on the computer desk...........

But never mind nothing can stop me feeling very excited about next week.

Hope they both feel better soon. Best to get it all out of the way now so you and the kids can have a great holiday :teeth:

hi london mum

may be a good idea to ask your gp for some more anti-biotics to take with you just in case. i usually get eye drops for my ds as he gets conjuntavitis a lot-unfortunately he had to go to the drs while on holiday as i forgot it cost $170 for a tiny bottle!

trust me when you are sitting on the plane all your worries will be gone.

have fun

michelle

Hi

Sorry to hear your feeling stressed. It seems common practice here as well everytime we are due to go away things either break down or we all come down ill and feel lousy on the plane.

A couple of months ago our washing machine broke, car broke down and last week I came down with bronchitis, Ethan (1) came down with a cold and still has a chesty cough. Callum, Casey and my dh had colds last week. I still feel tight chestniness so I am on steriods for that. Its always the same we are ill on the way out. Last year I had a cold on the flight, but as soon as I woke up the following morning in Florida it went.

I do hope your lo's get better and have a great time.

I have a Fiat Brava (bear with me, this is going somewhere) Never ever in 7 yeasr has it given me a scrap of trouble.

April 2002, the morning of the 3rd, I am putting the cases, buggies, hand luggage the whole mass into the car for a gentle drive down to Gatwick. The car was a bit close to the house and the kids couldnt open the door to get in.

No probs I pull it forward a bit. WOULDNT START! at all, completely dead!

Never happened before or since, bloody things. The vein in the side of my head started to swell. Anyway, I kicked it and swore at it, My wife "Dont worry kids, we can visit Daddy".

Got in the other car (too small to travel in, Clio) fetched a can of fuel, although mine was full. Squeezed a bit more in and it started!!!!!

God knows why

Have a fantastic time and I'm sure the kids will be fine.

Our friends left this morning on flight on BY162A from Birmingham, I am tracking it as we speak. http://www.aeroseek.com for 2 weeks in the fun

I swear it's the excitement that does it. One of mine always get's ill in the run up. Just relax and it'll all be fine. As soon as you get on the plane that Disney magic kicks in and makes everything ok. Hope you have a magical time
:flower:

My DH always goes mad with me. I never take time off sick from work but as soon as we go away on holiday I get ill. I too have been told it is excitment.

I had an awful sore throat on my wedding day and spent the first week of my honeymoon with flu. Even a weekend at Butlins means I am going to come down with something.

It could be a good sign the kids have it early and be gone time for the holiday.

Have a great time.

Same here. I've spent this final week with terrible headaches, chest pains and stomach aches. It's probably a mixture of stress and excitement. This week I've had a job interview, been waiting for the results of a blood test and have been arguing with the government over whether they'll give me some money or not! I'll be so glad for some of that Florida medicine, I swear the heat makes you feel better no matter what!

Oh, and I got the job (just a web design contract for a few hundred, no biggie), the blood test results came back normal and the givernment told me today they'll have put money into my account by the time I get back so I had nothing to worry about after all!

:grouphug: Hi LondonMom :grouphug:

So sorry to hear your wee ones are ill  When my girls were younger they got thrush in their mouths when teething and i was told by my (old fashioned) mid wife to sweeten some natural yoghurt and put it in the freezer untill it's just iced over and let them eat it, it worked a treat! If your youngest cant eat it that way then mix some of the yoghurt with milk and feed from a cup. It's something in the yoghurt that soothes the infection, cooling their wee mouths down, its not a cure by any means but it does cool their mouths down :) Hope you feel calmer soon

Love Audrey.
