going on cruise in December solo; who has been on a cruise solo?? Do you have to eat at the dinning rooms at night?? In the Bahamas is there a hotel close to boat that you can go to and use their pool, and is there anywhere close to get t-shirts??:confused3

Going on a cruise alone sounds like heaven. Eating in the dining rooms isn't a problem. You will most likely share a table with others. I went alone with my two girls, but since they were busy in the kids club most of the time, it was like I was alone. I met some nice people and never felt alone. The only problem is the amount you have to pay as a single. It's almost the same as paying double. Is there someone that could go with your or someone that could squeeze you into their stateroom...LOL

I did the DCL 7 day cruise solo in Sept. 06
I was unsure about going to the dinning room solo, I went the first night, and meet my dinner party (table of 8) and I was welcome by all, it turn out to be the best part of the cruise. If it would not been a good time, I would have not gone back, I'm glad I try it the first night, as I still e-mail all my dinner mates.

When in Nassua as you walk off the ship, turn to the right past the taxi stand and walk along the sea wall, the first street will be where the Hard Rock Cafe is, and the next street will have shops, and you could go all the way to the end, and there is open air shops like a flea market with shirts/hats and stuff like that, if you go left after getting off the ship there are shops of all types, the Del Sol store and such.

There are hotels you can book so you can use the beach, but I never did that, so not much help there.

Would I do a solo cruise again, YES, looking at going next year again.

I've cruised solo a few times, with the next one coming up in November. I enjoy cruising more than he does, and I really can live without ESPN Sports Center being shown every moment that we're in the cabin :rotfl: So, in November I plan to book another solo cruise for April

Nobody really "has to" do anything except the lifeboat drill. I do eat in the dining room - what fun meeting different other passengers every evening. I quit doing DCL cruises years ago, and now book anytime dining on HAL. I figure it makes more sense to eat whenever I feel like it rather than when the cruise line has assigned me to be hungry. As a solo I do whatever I want - it's really no different from cruising as a couple except for no sex and no Sports Center (thank goodness for that last one)! :rotfl2:
