Going October18-21st what is UEA?

Our trip is booked to be at DLR October 18-21st. Just read on the boards that this is UEA weekend? What does this mean and does this affect our trip? Our plan was to go to the halloween party on the 19th. We would go to DCA on thurs, KBF on fri, party fri night, then DL on sat. We decided to downgrade to base tickets to get MHP tickets but if it's going to be a busy weekend should we get park hoppers? We will not be able to return to DLR anytime soon and we want to make sure we experience CL. It is my DS6 's birthday on oct 20th and that is why we picked it. Just read a board and someone stated that it was going to be a busy weekend!

UEA is when Utah has a short school break in most state school disctricts. Also some other regular school districts and non tradition schedule school have a break this week. This is the busiest week of October. However the number of schools off that week is small compared to this week of Summer.

What happens is a mix of things. You take a slow week and raise the attendance with people on weeklong or half week vactions to medium crowds. Stack them on a normally busy weekend and it's a very busy weekend. Add in a couple Halloween parties that make Tuesday and Friday more busy especially in the evening. In the end it takes an offseason week and makes it slightly to very busy. It's not as busy as Thankgiving, Presidents Day or weeks during Spring Break.

Thanks, you have been very helpful in planning my trip in so many ways! I let my husband know of this news and of course he wasn't that excited that we picked the busiest week, when we were hoping for it to be less crowded than when we went in May.

I was going to get base tickets so that I could get the Halloween Party tickets, do you think I would be better off going back to park hoppers? I could get 2 day park hoppers and use it for thurs and sat and go to Knotts and party on fri? I guess saving money is not worth it if we are better served by saving time.

We didn't see Fantasmic last time because the crowds were insane for the first show maybe we will try to enter during the first show and make our way around the park and try to avoid crowds to the 2nd show.

Also is October 20th a blocked AP date? I am being hopeful this will help? I know deluxe and premium passholders can attend on this date but I'm thinking they may want to avoid the busiest week in October too?

It won't help. It's a busy day that's why they are blocked, it's the standard format for that time of year. AP blocks, unblocks make a difference when they are going to be or have been blocks a long time.

If you want to skip fireworks, it should be Remember Dreams Come True on Saturday, then going back to HM, Splash and Pooh during the first show works well. As soon as the first F! viewers leave, just fill in thier spot.

UEA stands for the Utah Education Association. Here in Utah every year the UEA has it's 2 day convention where all ( at least they are suppose ) public teachers come for training. As a result all public schools k- 12 area closed. There is a mass exodus
from the state to DLR. Many of my friends and neighbors do this every year.
