Going next week just cancelled all fp's and adr 's

We are hard core non-planners. I hate having a schedule while on vacation. Our most recent trip was 13 nights and I had 2 dessert parties and one ADR planned that couldn’t be missed and just those three pre-booked events drove us completely insane.

I did make FPs based on where I thought we’d be on a given day (as I always do) but we missed or cancelled 75% of them day of. In fact I think the only pre-planned FPs we actually made it to were for FOP. The rest were made at the resort standing in line for the bus in the morning and throughout the day. Quite often we leave our room expecting to get on XX bus and instead get on bus YY. Maybe the line for the bus to park XX was too long, maybe the bus to park YY was just arriving, or maybe we were craving a giant cinnamon bun from Gaston’s Tavern for breakfast.

Having plans and schedules is for real life IMO - it’s what works for us. You will not starve and you will get on/see many attractions. It can be done. It’s the only way we tour.

OP here. The reason I cancelled the fastpasses are 2 fold. First of all I do get kind of compulsive with my planning so once I had the fastpasses booked I started making ADRs for those parks and then the trip just felt too planned. I know i could, in theory just make them and forget them but in reality it doesnt work that way for me. Secondly, there is not a single ride we want to do outside of Jungle Cruise and even that isn't a must do. Why hold all those fastpasses that someone else will love to get?

I just cancelled all of our fastpasses and Adr's for next week because I felt like our trip was loosing the relaxed, go with the flow feel I really want for this one.Does anyone have advice for going without plans? We go very often and just booked a 3 night trip to see the holiday decor and attractions. We do have the Dxddp and a car this trip.Once I booked the fastpasses I started planning meals around them and all of a sudden our days were full.
Ummmm that is what touring with the DxDDP is like... you're working everything around your FOOD schedule.... ;)

Hope you have a good trip! I'm a bit worried for you now though...

Nope, no food schedule outside of the CP dining package. We will see whats available the night before or even day of. Its only 2 nights of dxddp and the package takes 4 credits. There are no restaurants we have to get but at the same time we would be more than happy with any TS. With the car we can get to DS and the resort restaurants easily.

I'm with you.

NO way do I want to go back to same day fast pass.
We were at DL this past March before MaxPass. Never did paper FP at WDW but not crazy about it. I have mobility issues so running to get FPs is not possible. DH had to run for all of them. Then he ended up getting FPs during our ADR, because he didn't understand the timing. We couldn't book anything else because those were valid even though we couldn't use them. So much for go with the flow.

We went on Veteran's day with no plans and no FPs. It was busy, but we rode everything we wanted to, and were able to make an adr at Biergarten an hour beforehand.
If you go often, it takes the pressure off of having to do EVERYTHING. We have APs and rarely do FPs. Honestly, I would rather stand in line than have to stress about being at a certain place at a certain time. We do usually have a few things that are 'must dos' for that trip, and plan around them, but nothing super regimented.
I would also be perfectly happy doing nothing but eating Shawarma in Morocco and watching people, so there's that..

The fastpass window is an hour+ long. Why would you be stressing? And you don't have to make the Fastpass, you can cancel it in two clicks on your smart phone! I don't get what all this stressing is about. Do we all understand stress is basically self induced?

Just out of curiosity, and after reading this thread last night, I checked dining availability for today and tomorrow. I could get dinner at Ohana, Cali Grill, and BOG to name a few...
