Going it alone?

I would really like to go to Florida on my in the near future, every holiday i look up though is so expensive. Is there a way i can do it cheaper for a single person?

If you are stuck traveling only on holidays, then it is going to be tough to find it cheaper.

If you can travel at off times, one of the best times is either before or after Thanksgiving - especially the two weeks after the holiday weekend. The weather is nice, the decorations are up, the holidays are in full swing and the prices are at value season.

I believe also for UK residents, they do offer some stacking of discounts, like a room discount and free dining, to entice you to come over here and spend your money. I would look into it.

Many of the UK packages are based on double occupancy, so there is a single supplement included in the price. I don't know if that is the case on the WDW UK site or just from travel agents and consolidaters.

You might want to price the components (airfare, room, ground transportation, etc.) separately to see if you can save a bit that way. Check both the UK & US WDW sites for comparison.

travelling alone is unfortunately expensive,
however if you look at it the only costs you dont split is hotel and car, you always pay full cost for a flight, pass, food etc. look hard enough you can get cheap deals.

being under 25 car hire is not possible (unless youre numbers come up tonight on the lotto), so staying off site or going offsite for food isnt possible, you need to stay on resort and somewhere with transfers included.

best suggestions i can offer you is to go in off season for both uk and us holiday makers (january / september etc) and to price up separately or via a tailor-made service (travelocity, expedia etc) Im off in november and was finding the same hotel (off site) and flight £100 less on expedia vs virgin holidays.

unfortunately staying on resort costs alot, untill you can rent a car its realistically your only option.

I'm going solo in September next year.
It's expensive but the only way to keep the costs down is to do it DIY and book the components separately. That way you avoid things like single room supplements. Pick a time in low season to keep flight and room costs down.

I go completely solo every other year; I love it. And despite the fact that I am paying for double occupancy, I still think it is a very affordable trip.

Pricing the components separately may or may not be favourable to you, depending on the offers at the time you book. I tend to think they usually are, as the only thing you are paying a "single supplement" on is the room--and that is a standard rate based on resort room occupancy. A package, on the other hand, may have the "single supplement" built into every component, but if there is a significant discount, it could be the better plan.

You might want to check on the UK boards to see if anyone has any ideas for saving money on solo trips.

I frequently travel solo, so I've learned to bite the bullet and look for the least expensive lodging (usually WDW value resort, unless I'm splurging!), watch for discounts and apply them. It takes a little practice, but it's amazing what you can find!

well i have quite a few friends of the Cultural rep programme in epcot who can get a friends and family discount so hopefully i can get a flight and then discounted accomadation ill look into it

Sadly for us brits it's a very expensive trip, im going in with family in february as it's low season and much cheaper.

yeahh i went this feb and it was cheap £600 we got the package for each tht is lol. im lookin to go again in jan coming up and in april with the family taking my boy back again and hes really excited
