Going in September, would you recommend insurance?

We'll be at WDW from Sept 22-Oct 2nd and I'm not sure if I should buy the insurance or not. We usually only purchase it when we take a cruise, but not the parks. However, I've had friends that have gone in August and had to be confined to their rooms due to a storm. If you have had any storm/insurance experiences, please help! ;)

Disney has a GREAT hurricane reschedule policy. Go to ALL Ears, sign up for the newsletter, and search about 3 newsletters back; it has all the details. There might be someone here who knows the specifics maybe, as I'm sure its somewhere else too.
Please dont quote me on this but I remembered it to be that if there was a hurricane and you were ready to leave they would rescheule free of charge, but you WOULD lose Mickeys Not so Scary Halloween or other shows you purchased separately.

One of my BEST vacation memories was on a trip BACK DURING a hurricane. When we left WDW that morning at 9:00 AM, everyone along our route home was boarding up the stores. While I'm sure it wasnt fun for them, it was really cool. (Boy I sound like a tourist!!!) we bought some produce and such and the kids got to watch them board up the windows with plywood. The entire week PRIOR to the hurricane was AWESOME!!! weather in Sept was PERFECT! Cool breeze all week and lots of sky watching seeing the hurriucane clouds roll in. When we got home that evening we saw on the news that Disney World had closed down completely!
Now, if I tell you NOT to buy insurance, and something happens, you'll blame me, so i'll tell ya its the SAFE thing to do, but I wont buy it. JMHO :cool1:

I buy trip insurance for every vacation, every destination. It covers a lot more than just hurricanes. A vacation is an investment and they are expensive so for a few bucks more you have peace of mind.

We also experienced WDW during a hurricane, and I must say it was one of the best trips we ever had. The weather the day before the storm was beautiful, the parks were empty, and like the above poster, it was fun to watch the CM's "batten down the hatches" and prepare for the storm. We stayed a day in the room, but we were in the GF main building so we had the entire building to roam around in. They had free movies on TV, and constant updates on the storm. They even had characters in the lobby for hours and different entertainment...magicians, games etc.. The next day the parks were open and empty. You would never know a storm blew thru and the weather was beautiful. We had a such a great time we extended that stay 2 days.

I love September. It may be a risky time due to hurricanes, but WDW is one of the safest places to be and it's all good. WDW will comp you for the time too. So if the parks are closed due to weather, you get a day on them.

Thanks goodness I bought insurance for our trip. We were to leave on the 11th and my dad had bypass surgery on the 9th. I was able to reschedule it and hopefully we will be leaving on Friday.
