I will be traveling with just my 3yo daughter. Do they offer any child watching while I'm making a decision? How/who do I call to make a reservation to meet up with a DVC representative? Do you think the Contemporary will be available then? What are the deals now? We will be there 9/10-9/17. Sorry for so many questions!!

I'd go to any kiosk in whatever resort you're at and they'll call the van to come get you.
We were pooped in the middle of our weeklong trip in December and were taking a day off for rest and pooltime. We stopped at the kiosk and were at the DVC offices within 30 mins. They had GREAT childcare. Our kids hated to leave. Ice cream on the way out.
We ended up buying resale, but the site visit clinched it.

Don't know about contemporary. Don't know about deals.

Hope that helps.

You can call ahead and set up your appointment and still have the courtesy van come to get you. Ron Brumbaugh is the man you will want to have as your guide. He is excellent - very knowledgeable, warm, and will take care of you. Ron is the man!

I'd stop at one of the kiosks either the day you want to tour or the day before. It sounds good booking an appointment before you arrive, but particularly with a 3 y old it's hard to plan that far ahead. I'd give yourself as much flexibility as possible so your tour doesn't get in the way of having fun. In September you'll probably still have afternoon storms so try to time your tour to any bad weather so not to miss any fun. If there's no storms then I'd try to go early/mid afternoon to give your daughter a couple of hours inside in the air conditioning so she doesn't get too tired/hot and bothered. Often the 3-5 year olds struggle with the heat and humidity in the middle of the day and they can get very grumpy/tearful if they don't get the chance to rest/cool off.

DVC kiosks (which can shuttle you with no appointment to the preview/sales center) are located in all the parks, DTD, and inside most of the resorts (all of the DVC ones have them).

If you want the name of a very friendly "fairy godmother" type guide, her name is Susan Saunders. We first bought OKW resale, then went to her to buy add-ons later, and I find she is not the pushy salesperson that other guides have been rumoured to be. The last visit I had with her she made no attempt to sell add-ons to us - and that made us want to buy from her again (which we did, surprising her completely). She has the philosophy that "DVC sells itself" and that it doesn't need any extra help from her.

I witnessed one guide (a guy I don't know the name of) enraging a father of a family in the SSR preview center, as the guide was using hard-sell tactics on the family. The father stormed out of the center.
