My Disney family and I (dw, 3 ds's 6,4 ,3) are heading down to our favorite place on earth WDW June 4-11 and staying at OKW (we are DVC members). We almost always go during the offseason but this time due to great air fares and my impatience of waitng till november decided to go in June. We've been in May, March, October, December over the last few years. I just need to to be able to cope with the heat :sunny:and crowds :crowded: of June. Need some help please!!!!!!!!! Thanx

Hi! :wave:

Since we've been going with our boys 9, 6, 4 we've always gone June/July. I think anytime is the best time to go to WDW. You will enjoy it no matter what. :sunny:

We have always gone in June/July. In fact, we are heading down this June 23-30 (BWV-we are members too). We have never had trouble. I love the heat, spend afternoons by the pools, stay at the parks late, you'll be fine. You just have to love WDW any time. ::MickeyMo

We have been to WDW two times in June. It's hot and humid with showers/tstorms most days. The rain normally does not last very long. Take advantage of EMH and Fast Passes and you will be fine. Take a hotel break before the noon crowds and heat. Go back or to another park later in the day when the sun isn't so bad. Make sure everyone drinks plenty of water, even though they might not feel thirsty. It is very important to stay hydrated. We normally stop at just about every fountain. I understand that all the food stands in the park will provide you with free ice and water.
Don't worry, you will be OK Just take it easy, drink, and stay out of the hot sun as much as possible. We have had great times on our two June trips and I am not a lover of heat/humidity.
Be sure to find Ice Station Cool in Epcot. It's great in the summer.

I was advised to stay away from Mickey's Philharmagic...(what fun would that be)...I'm goin in mid june...I'm already packed.
* Cool Wraps
* Water Spray Bottle
* Mist Sprayer
* The lightest clothes possible...

*** one more thing....
THINK COLD !!! :cold:

Drink a lot of water, use fastpass, drink water, get there early, drink water, take an afternoon break, swim, go back in the evening, drink water...

I'm not the one who started the thread but thanks for the info it's our first June trip too and I also had the same concerns.... :earsboy:

Beware of Gay day. I don't know your beliefs but it is very popular during the first week of June. Thought you might want to know.

June really isn't as bad as people make it out to be. We have been several times in June and will be going again this year. The worst part about it is the rain, but if you plan for it, its not bad!

We went last year in June and it is really really really HOT! We HAD to go back to our room every afternoon to swim. We couldnt take the heat. We had to goto e-night because we couldnt take the hot sun. We wouldnt of seen much of MK if we didnt. When we were at AK it was so darn hot (my DH says there no shade there) we had to leave.

This year we are staying twice as long so we can spend more time at the pool and still have time to see what we want in the parks.

We were bummed it was raining but when it stopped we wished it was raining!! lol
Guess we are used to Cold Cleveland...lol

We are going again in June tho!!!!

Not gay. Not that it matters. Only time we could go and didn't want to wait till nov. plus i got great airfare. $ 461 for 4 of us to fly from providence.

Ok-I thought I might have posted a reply to you before but I must be losing my mind :confused3 This will be our 4th trip in June--we will be there June 2-11. The weather and crowds are very manageable. Just avoid MK on the first Saturday in June--that is Gay Day there and it can be very crowded. Typically they will extend the hours at a couple of the other parks that day to encourage people to visit another park. Drink LOTS of water and use LOTS of sunscreen. You might want to take a break during the day and head back to the room and then take advantage of evening EMH at the parks. We did an E-Ticket Night last year and it was a blast!! That way we knew that if it was too crowded at MK during the day we would still be able to ride our favorite rides. Take advantage of FP--we generally use it any time the posted wait is more than 30 minutes. A good time to ride a lot of rides is during the parades and fireworks. If Spectro and Fantasmic! are offered twice in one evening, try to go to the second one. It does rain every day but that usually doesn't slow us down(except last year--it came a torrential downpour every day around 5:00 pm). It will be more crowded than when you normally go but you can still have lots of fun. Now if they would just post those darn June hours...oh wait, they are there now :Pinkbounc

Does it rain all of June? More in the beginning of the month? The end of the month? I'm a Juner too. :bounce:

I think it is pretty much the whole month :umbrella: It is usually one brief shower every day.

june-august it pretty much rains every afternoon

Water, water water. OH and go to AK on a morning EMH's day because by noon it's too hot. Ak is always about 10 degrees hotter than any other park!

Don't go. Parks open late, close early, rains every day, too crowded to get around, everyone is crabby, terrible heat, long lines, most rides being refurbished, resorts closed for repair, sold out of turkey legs, fast pass machines malfunction, CM's on work slowdown due to contract disputes, busses break down in the heat......... We normally go this time of the year, but got pushed back to 06-08 thru 06-15. Like previously stated, be aware of gridlock at MK on Sat due to Gay Days and some rides overwhelmed with large groups at peak times. Expect an afternoon downpour and then incredibly humid. Everything will be manageable if you start early, plan and use mid-day breaks to recharge.

The OP said help me cope, not send me off the deep end! :rotfl:

Just be prepared and think positive after all you will be at Disney World! If it rains, have a poncho handy. When it gets too hot, pull out the handy cool mister or head for the pool. If one park is too crowded head for a different one. All in all just go with the flow and have fun! :goodvibes

I'm going there from June 11th to the 25th. I have read a lot of people saying that if the park you are in gets busy then head to another park. Surely though you either get lucky or unlucky with how busy the other park might be? :confused3

We go in June mostly, but have also been in August. If you really want humid - try the middle of August! Then June seems downright chilly.

Since it rains everyday, you will want to carry a poncho. Unless you already have this as part of your wardrobe from previous trips - go buy some at the local dollar store. Make sure to get any color but yellow. You will have a much easier time finding your party in the midst of all the yellow ponchos.

My advice is to wear lots of sunscreen, take a mid-day break (since we are DVC too- we usually go back and eat lunch and swim), and DRINK LOTS OF WATER.

In order to save a few bucks (LOL) on water, several years ago we purchased an insulated WDW water bottle with a strap. Best WDW souvenir we ever bought! We fill it up at night and put it in the freezer. In the morning, it goes in the insulated carrier. It keeps the person carrying it cool, and by the time you need a drink, it has started to melt. You get a really good cold drink. It usually lasts through the morning. (Our rule is every time we get in line, everyone has to drink at least once.)

Hey my family and I are arriving June 2nd as well. :) Staying at the contemporary. How about yourself? We are avoiding Saturday for MK going Friday for early day and AK Saturday for early day. I have 9 and 7 yo DD. Hope you have a great time.

The really really exicted mom!
