We plan to go sometime in Jan, but definitely after the Christmas crowd. Would 2nd, 3rd, or 4th week be best? Are there a lot of college students there at this time since most are on break?

Jan is the best month and the only time it is anywhere near crowded is MLK weekend. We are actually arriving on that Mon to spend the week and then go on the cruise. WOo hoO!

I'd go towards the end of the month, but avoid MLK weekend. Since MLK Day is the 16th, I'd probably go the week of the 22nd.

We LOVE going to WDW the last week in Jan. The crowds, if you could call them that, are light. I don't really remember seeing a whole lot of college kids. You've got to remember, they just barely have gotten back from they're Christmas break. They usually don't start spring break until the end of Feb. - first of March. I think you'll be fine if you avoid MLK like the previous posters suggested. Have fun!

Same Here. I just got back last week, and am planning a return trip for Winter Break this year.

I'm planning on heading down January 2nd-5th or 6th.

Are crowds still heavy or do people start to leave on the 2nd after all the New Years Festivities?

I'm with the other posters. Go toward the end of January and try to avoid MLK weekend. We've gone during the first week of January (husband is a college prof), but the weather is really hit or miss. One year it was really cold -- we had to buy DD mittens (and we're Michiganians). End of January and into February, the weather will be better. Crowds are low most of January.

It's so hard to plan vacations when you have some one that's in the education profession! Same with being a Student!

Regarding the Weather: I was down in Orlando for a couple days the second week of January last year and the weather was beautiful. Low 80s, very comfortable air, and the crowds were very slim.

Thanks Everyone for all your feedback. It is difficult when you work in the education profession. I work at a college and although I am thankful I do not have a teachers schedule, it can still pose timing problems.

I recommend you visit www.mouseplanet.com and check the postings for the monthly events. One year we went in January and hit marathon weekend which was very busy. If the weeks do not matter check the schedule and go when nothing big is scheduled!!!
