going in April?

Thinking of going to April for the first time...thinking of the week of the 12th...crowd predictors say good time to go but it makes me a bit nervous. Should we wait until later in the month? We usually go in Feb or Sept....Tell me all about April!

Our first trip with my daughter was the last full week of April. Crowds were really low and we felt like we did everything we wanted. It was warm enough to wear shorts and swim. There was a cheer competition but we never saw them.

We will be going the same time this year. We have been this same week before. It's only ok, as far as crowds go. I think we got spoiled going at really low-peak times (we are going the end of this month, for example).

I think picking the right park may be key - it was hit or miss for us when we went this same week in 2013. And one day was amazingly hot... I grew up in FL, but moved a while back. I had forgotten how early in the season the heat can show up. Pools are chilly, but do-able, if not heated (offsite).

At least Easter will be over by then, but you still shouldn't expect low crowds; they will be at least moderate at best. We went the last week of April once - the weather was a bit rainy, but by the end of the week the temps were blazing hot. The sun at that time is pretty intense!

DITTO!!! I was there April 2012 (early) and 2013 (late) and both times I was taken aback by crowd levels.

I've been going to WDW 3-4 x/year for 10 years, and honestly there are no "low" crowd level now as we used to know them.

I've booked my first ever trip to WDW for this April 12-20. It seems like the perfect time. The crowds aren't at 0 but it's one of the lowest points of the year and the weather isn't either boiling hot or uncomfortably cold.

We always go in April and LOVE it!!

Weather is usually nice/moderate, the soul-sucking humidity hasn't hit yet, very comfortable shorts weather, and the Flower and Garden festival! We always try to stay at least two weeks away from Easter.

Crowds aren't too bad either. We used to go at the end of May, but between the heat and the crowds, it was a bit more challenging. We'll stick with April from now on.

We love April!! We went in late April 2013 and the crowds were great (in our opinion) and the weather was beautiful and comfortable. We are going the last week of April this year and can't wait!!

Another positive review for April here! I'm a teacher so I am bound to school vacation weeks (although lucky for us - Massachusetts is not always Easter week) and went the first time in April on our last trip in 2013. We loved it! The weather was absolutely perfect - not too hot, and it didn't get chilly. The crowds were fine and we had no trouble doing everything we wanted. The highlight for us was the Flower and Garden Festival. We're going back this year April 20th!
