I'm sorry if this is repeated--I thought I had posted earlier and now I can't find it!

Anyway, I booked my first trip "home" to SSR today--Nov 1-8 for two studios. One of the studios we requested (and got) handicapped access. I went online to dvcmember.com and the reservation is already showing, but it does not show the handicap designation for the second studio. Is this normal or should I be worried? Or will it show up on my hand-copy confirmation?

Thanks everyone!

Recently the handicapped information has not been showing up on the written confirmation. It used to, but not recently.

We had a trip to SSR in October in October 2007 and we have a planned one for April for OKW. Nothing was written on either confirmation sheet. When I asked, the explanation was that the Special Needs reservation system and the MS reservation system are separate systems and the MS system can't print the special needs information. They said the information was in the computer and I shouldn't worry. That made me pretty uncomfortable and I called at least once a month; more often closer to our trip. I explained each time I called why I was uncomfortable; the CMs just basically said "you don't bother us when you call, so call if you like."

If your reservation was made with MS contacting the Special Needs Department to make sure of availability, you should be OK. But, I would still keep checking to make sure it's still OK.

Thanks Sue--the CM booked the first studio, no problem, then went off the line for a couple of minutes to book the HA studio so I think it is ok--but will probably call back closer to departure to make sure!

you can also call the Special Reservations number; it's listed in the disABILITIES FAQs thread on the disABILITIES Board.

Ah so I'm not the only one. I've bugged MS repeatedly about my April ressie for the same reason. I hope we don't start having problems getting our rooms. (Like being told the room assigners no longer have access to Special Needs blocks.)

Have you called Special Needs?

EDIT: I just called Special Needs. They don't use the same reservation number but she looked me up anyway. (All she needed was the resort and travel dates. I'm still trying to figure out how she knew my name. Caller ID or ESP?) Anyway the block was in there. A 1bedroom HA room with roll-in shower. April 20-27.

After the first couple of times, I have called Special Needs. I'm not sure which is better - the ones I really want to make sure have access to it are the CMs at the resort.

They are 2 separate computer systems. I think the Special Needs computer is linked/communicates with the CRO one, but when MS stopped doing their own special needs arrangements, that's when the problems started.

I didn't realize MS ever made HA room reservations. Is it worth calling the resort directly 3 days before check-in or whenever the mysterious room assigner is supposed to get it?

I did have one potentially disastrous incident last May. Apparently the room assigner put me in a tub HA room instead of the roll-in shower I had blocked 11 mos. before. The Front Desk CM was able to fix it at check-in by giving me another room. Best she could discern for a cause is that I had later added a request for another area of the resort (Congress Park in SSR) and that overwrote my roll-in block. (Or caused the room assigner not to see it.)

Still it makes me nervous for all future trips. I try to arrive as early as possible so there are plenty of rooms available in case we need to fix it.
