Going home or really going home?

I sure wish some of you fellow DVCers could settle a little difference of opinion between DH and me.

I posted in a thread a few days ago that we would be going home for the first time in June. He read the post and told me that we weren't really "going home" because we own at VWL and are staying at OKW for our June trip.

I argued that any time you stay at any DVC resort you are going home. What is the consensus here on DIS?

This is all in good fun, as it doesn't matter a bit to me if I'm wrong.

I always thought you werent really going home until you went to where you actually own.
That's like saying when we cruise in Nov that we "are going home"

My vote is that any time you are staying at a DVC location, you are "going home".

I for one would not be offended to have a CM tell me "Welcome Home" when I check in to BWV later this year (I'm a VWLer).

Ok when we toured Vero Beach in Dec the CM did say "welcome home" to me. It felt good but I dont really think its "going home" until one stays where they bought.

Like mik_KY_mouses said....there's no right or wrong on this. While we really love VWL, we feel like we are "going home" any time we use DVC.

I agree that Disney cruises, WDW resorts (non-DVC) and other trade outs would not feel like "going home".

When we were on our cruise last July the Captain said the ship was our home for 7 days - so, I agree that any DVC resort (including cruise) is our "home away home".

I agree with Granny. It's "home" no matter which DVC resort I stay at!

OK guys - Thanks - guess I really do have a second "home".
Nov will be our very first time using points, maybe we will actually feel like we are going "home".
So I can change my mind at 7 months and book at a different DVC resort and still feel like Im going "home" if we dont go to VWL next Oct.

All DVC resorts are classified as "Home away from Home" resorts as opposed to the regular chain of hotels from "Value" on up.

So in my opinion, any DVC resort is "Going Home" regardless whether it's your "home" resort or not.

Wouldn't have it any other way.

We own at BWV but were welcomed home at OKW last December and I was perfectly happy having OKW as my home. The same is true for HHI last April. I'm so familiar with each of the resorts (after way too much planning and using the resort photos as my screensaver), they're all home to me.
