I'm not sure if this belongs here or on the Transportation forum. We plan to Epcot after we have dinner at the Boardwalk. Is it possible to board the boat to Epcot World Showcase with an ECV? If not, then what would be the best way to go from the Boardwalk to Epcot.

Yes, that is not a problem. But then it may actually be faster to walk or take the ECV. Just head to the end of the boardwalk near ESPN and it is only two or three minutes from there.

I agree with Cheshire Figment.
It is possible and easy, but will probably be faster to just walk/ECV over there.
For the boat, you may have to backtrack to get to the dock, wait for the boat, wait for loading. Unless the boat is already there when you arrive to get on, you would probably arrive faster by not taking the boat.

As others have said, the boats can take ECVs, but it will be faster to ride over unless a boat is actually at the dock. (Even then, your ECV will be faster unless you are hampered by having to drive slow for your companions to keep up with you)

Also beware, When I was on my last trip (staying at Boardwalk) the boats had a 'two wheelchair/ECV only' rule in operation. If that rule is still in operation you might have to wait for a second boat.

Thanks you so much for your replies. The walk (ride) to Epcot sounds wonderful. Thanks again.

Take the ECV and skip the boats, unless you want the boat ride experience. I worry obsessively over the best, most convenient and easiest on my family, ways to get around with the ECV. Walking is the easiest and quickest from Boardwalk to EP, and that is even going at a very slow pace. My DBF has a heart condition and although walking is actually good for him, we go very slowly. Still not a long walk. Unless it is pouring--we were walking in June after just celebrating our anniversary at FF, and a monsoon hit. I had on a brand new red dress and, even with my rain poncho, ended up with red dye running down my legs! The boat ride is nice though, if you are just looking for a relaxing, pretty and cool evening.

Red dye!!:scared1:

Anyway, if anyone is curious, there are pictures of the Friendship Boats in post #8 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread. They are easy to get into to go to/from the Epcot area resorts to Epcot or the Studio, but it can often be faster walking.

Just popping in to also add that it is one of my favourite walks! Discovered it by mistakes last year and I thought it was really lovely! When we go this year I want to do it at night!

ENJOY! :)

Just to note - the boats don't really take you to World Showcase - they take you to the International Gateway, you go through the turnstiles, up an incline, and then you are at the bridge to France (on your right) and the UK is on your left.
