Quick question. We will be staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort from Oct 4-11 for our honeymoon. I so would like to go to Universal for their Halloween Horror Nights on the 8th. Does anyone know how I can get transportation to and from Universal from the Caribbean Beach? How much is a round trip? Is a taxi too much money? If I can find reliable transportation, then I would go ahead and order the tickets online. TIA!!!! :goodvibes

If it were me, I'd rent a car for a day. You can get either Alamo or National on site - at the Car Care Center (near the MK) or at the Desk in the Dolphin Resort. You should be able to get one for less than $50, including taxes, fees and gas (if you only go back and forth to Universal).a A taxi will cost more than that and IIRC, so will a towncar service.

Best wishes -

I would call Disney and ask them for the number or to transfer your call. That way you can get the scoop and have no surprises!

get in touch with disney as they have coach trips daily from every resort going to all other magor attractions in florida

The best ways to Universal are either taxi or Mears Shuttle. Mears Shuttle is cheaper and you get to ride when it gets filled or at certain pick up times. Taxi, you go when you are ready to leave and leave Universal when you are ready to leave. Shuttle is probably cheaper, but not as convenient.

Disney does not transport to other parks in Florida.

I have never heard of Disney running shuttles to other attractions in Florida. Mears does pick up every day but you must contact them if you wish to use they.

No they don't. Disney does NOT want you leaving Disney. They only transport you to Disney destinations....

Your tour company from the UK may offer this, but it's NOT a Disney service.

Mears will pick up at Disney resorts, and Disney will help (in a small way).

Dial "0" from your Disney resort phone the night before you wish to go to Universal/IOA/Sea World. When the operator answers, ask to be transferred to Mears. (That is how Disney will help, save you the 75 cents to dial Mears directly).

When Mears picks up the line, tell them you wish to go to Universal/IOA/Sea World in the morning, approximately what time and what resort you are at.

They will give you a pickup time and place.

Be at the pickup place 15 minutes before they state.

When the van/bus arrives pay the driver $15 pp RT in CASH. (I also usually tip the driver $1 PP per way.)

You will then be taken to Universal. You may also stop at other resorts.

When you arrive at Universal, you can either arrange a pickup time at that time, or on the return voucher there is phone # you can call 2 hours before you wish to go back to your resort.

They will tell you a pickup time.

Return to where you were dropped off. Give the driver the return voucher and board the bus/van. You will be transported back to your resort. There may be other stops before you get to your resort.

If you know in advance you wish to use this service and want to pay with a credit card, you can purchase a Round Trip Voucher at the Mears desk at the airport with a credit card. You still need to make the actual pickup reservations the night before.

when i go alone i use mears to get to US. this could also be cost-effective if there are only 2 of you. if more than 2 we always get a car from alamo at the dolphin resort. i like the mears service although you do have to call them the night before to arrange pick up and then 2 hours in advance of when you want to be picked up for your return trip. i also see where someone else says you have to wait until mears fills its bus to go to your destination. that is not true. they only do this from the airport. i have used mears dozens of times & most times they send a van for me and a few others at the same resort or usually a cab just for me. the only time i've ever had to take one of their coaches was going to wet n wild. we stopped at the other 2 all-star resorts & then on to our destination. since wet n wild is not as popular as universal i guess this is why they did this. most of my trips on mears have been in taxis that came just for me and took me straight to my destinations with no other stops.
