Going for first time and need advice

Ok this will be our first time at US and/or IOA

Our boys will be 3 1/2 and 5 1/2 by the time the trip comes and I would like to know which park would be better to take them to? We only want to do one day there and you cannot buy a ticket to hop back and forth? Do we NEED 2 days for both? Also is there more to do in one place then the other? Are they connected, like do you park in the same place? Thanks in advance for any help

My first trip to US and IOA is in a few weeks, and I do not have small kids, but from what I have read here:
If I had children your age and wanted to go to only one park, I would go to universal Studios. There is the Kidzone.. from Kelley morgan's book on universal.. it "if you have children under 10, you could easily spend an entire day here".

It has Animal planet Live, ET Adventure, Fievel's playground (an area where shoes are the size of houses), A day in the park with Barney, Woody Woodpecker's Coaster, curious george goes to town and character meet and greets. Other parts of the Park have Nickoledian live, funtastic world of Hanna Barbera, etc.

US and IOA have "baby swap" provisions. If you go with another adult you can stand in line together, then you can ride, your adult companion can watch the children. When you exit the ride, your companion and you switch and they can ride.

tickets can be bought for both parks for 1 day at about 69.95 per ticket vs the 50.ish per one day for one park. The two park ticket has to be bought at the gate.

My vote.. go two days and enjoy all the parks. December will have short days (I think totals of 8 hours) and it would be hard to enjoy everything in that time.
