Hi

Has anyone travelled to Manchester airport by train?
How far is the station from terminal 2?

We are hoping to travel with just hand luggage in April - so thought about giving the train a 'go' to save our DD the early morning trips through the dreaded Manchester rush hour traffic!

Also looking forward to bypassing the bag drop area and going straight to gate, after checking in on line!!

Any info greatly received.

Thanks

Tracy

Hi, have travelled from Leeds to Manchester Airport the times that I haven't stayed at the Radisson and would definitely recommend it. There is a covered walkway from the station to the airport itself, I'm sure there was a bus that went directly to terminal two - though we were too eager to use the moving walkway to wait for it! A straightforward hassle free alternative to staying over, I'd recommend it especially as you have no luggage. :thumbsup2

Hi Pudsey Chancer,

We have stayed at the Radisson before, we don't want to stay overnight as we are only about 45/50 mins away from Manchester on the train, so would be going directly there. With only having hand luggage and checking in on line, we can go directly to the gate, hence saving loads of time. The gate usually closes 30 mins before departure. So in theory we only need to be at the Virgin gate at around 9.55 am... but in practice would leave far more time!!
I was just bothered about the position of the station in relation to T2?
Thanks
Tracy

The walkway takes you straight into the Airport, I'd say it took no longer than ten minutes to stroll through to terminal 2 (on the moving walkways!!!), well, I was on holiday dawdle mode! :rotfl:

As others have said it's easy to get to straight off the train (which had plenty of room for the cases and staff with a refreshments cart the train was a new one when we went in the summer last year), at the airport's own platform and up the lift though security checks they may ask to see your flight tickets so keep 'em handy.. and you are at the desks. There are lots of clear directions to assist you to the correct check in desks and they will be able to give you up to date info on hand baggage restriction changes while you are there. Don't worry you'll be fine:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone. It gives us an idea on times etc..
It'll be a new venture... going to the airport by train!!

thanks again

Tracy
