Going bagless?

Now that cooler weather is on the way I'm wondering if anyone can share tips for going bagless at WDW. Since I vlog I have a certain degree of camera equipment (case, batteries, etc) but with jacket pockets, I'd really like to try going bagless on our next cool weather trip. Any tips on how to make this happen? I'm really terrible at leaving stuff behind and I also have to carry an EpiPen (not huge but not tiny & doesn't fit in pockets very well).

My thoughts were DH & I's jacket pockets, jeans pockets, & maybe a money belt for my CC, AP, & ID since women's jeans pockets tend to be unreliable and small.

If you have full bulky pockets, they might send you to bag check anyway, or thru xray. If I had a bunch of stuff like camera equipment, I would personally feel more secure carrying them in a bag than in my pockets. With my luck, I'd lose parts without a bag.

I have a coat I like to wear at Disney that is clearly too big for me and has a bunch of pockets I can put stuff it. Since they started the metal detectors - if I wear it - I had to go through it. So - that means you have to empty out the pockets of all metal.

For me - that's still much better than having to carry an additional bag. After the first time - I learned to "minimize" the pockets I had things in to make it easier to pull stuff out to dump in the little bucket before walking through the metal detector. I also just pull out everything - as that's faster than trying to sort what has metal and what doesn't. I took a moment after the detector to put things where I knew I would find them during the day. Done. I still love my system as I can't stand carrying a bag at Disney.

I am considering this. I have been to Disney more times than I can count. I want to go, just once, and carry nothing or at least almost nothing. Sad thing is, I don't think I can. :)

My DH has a rather handy black backpack - it's not large but fits in everything I need - so I never carry a bag!

If I can come up with a pocket big enough for my cell phone, I always go bagless. My cc, ID and money go in a running belt around my waist under my shirt, phone in pocket, reading glasses on a chain around my neck, sunglasses on my face and cap on my head. My cell phone actually fits in my running belt but I carry it in my hand until I go through metal detector then I go to the bathroom and pull my belt over my shirt/dress and stick my cell phone in it. I don't put my ID, cc or money on a wallet since there is a zipper on the belt. https://www.amazon.com/Upgrade-Eazymate-Fashion-Running-Belt/dp/B0150WBWTU. I did go through MK no bag line with the belt on top once and the security guard insisted I go through the bag line because I had a wallet in it and you could see the bulge. I tried to explain to her that it was really a belt and didn't have a way to take it off except shimmy it down off my hips but she insisted. Was kind of funny seeing me standing in line shimmying my belt off, the bag guard was very perplexed as to why I was going through the line with a belt in my hand. Lesson learned after that, it went under the shirt and no wallet with cell phone in my hand so no bulges.

Been going bagless now since the kids got older.
We find wallet, phone and magic bands are all we need.
Last time we stayed onsite, I tried leaving my wallet back in the room safe (and just used the MB for purchases) but it just didn't feel right without my wallet in my pocket. My wife loved not carrying a purse and wallet, but maybe that was because I was paying ;)
We stopped taking the camera several years ago, no need for "pro" quality photos. Snaps from my phone are great for capturing those candid moments and sharing on social media. The cameras on the newer smartphones are actually quite remarkable.
We tried the refillable cups a couple of times but found it was just something extra to carry around so we just splurge the $3 for a pop or water when we get thirsty (and the occasional adult beverage)

Running buddy has a nice wallet that holds the phone and a few essentials. It goes on your belt with magnet

You may be surprised. If I can do it, anyone can. Thanks to the skirts above
I still bring
powder compact to stop shine and lipstick in a small cosmetic pouch, size of palm of my hand, fits in pocket
ID, Credit card, AP, TiW card, in zip pouch, fits in pocket
Phone, w/spare battery when we plan long park days, I have an XL phone and it still fits in pocket
eyeglass cleaning cloth

I used to carry so much more but when I got honest about it all, just didn't need it and haven't missed it since I started going bagless. It's scary that first time, I get it. Try this, bring a bag but put it in a locker when you first get there. If you never return for it, then you didn't need those things and leave it behind next time

In Sept. if you went through the no bag lines, I saw most people being directed to the metal detectors and it wasn't really saving time.

I was also sent to the metal detectors at every park with my backpack too in addition to going through bag check.

Yes, I'd say 90% of the time we do have to go through a metal detector.
Sometimes it doesn't save time but others, it saves a lot of time. Namely at AK and Epcot. I have seen bag check lines at AK backed up to the tram drop off on more than 1 occasion. And main entrance at Epcot has really long Bag check lines for some reason. HS never seems to have long lines but if we are coming from the parking lot and not the boat we always use the side entrance
MK strangely enough, is where we go through metal detectors the least. Epcot the most.

Which pocket do you put your phone in...the one in the shorts? Does it slide out at all with movement or when sitting down?

Earlier this month there was a separate metal detector for guests without bags. It seemed to go quickly, I never saw any line forming.

I can never go completely bagless, but I have managed to go from a medium-large backpack to a very small crossbody bag to just carry the necessities (phone, small cardholder for ID, debit card, etc., and sunglasses). I still have to go through bag check, but I at least don't have to take off my bag when I get on any ride. Even that small of a change felt very freeing.

I was the same way. I needed the security of my crossbody bag that was full of things we *might* need while we were in the parks. As it turned out, I realized that after 30+ days in the parks, I never needed about 95% of what was in that bag. And the things I *did* need, fit in a tiny crossbody wallet (about the size of the deck of cards) that actually fit in my pocket. However, I probably never would have made that leap if it didn't happen by accident during one of our trips. It was our "down" day and we were spending a few hours at DTD. We had planned to go to one of the parks later that night (after dinner). We had lunch at DTD and then decided we kind of wanted to go to a park that afternoon instead of that night. And everyone wanted to go (indirectly) straight from DTD to a park. I nearly had a meltdown. When I left the room that morning, we were going to DTD for shopping and lunch -- that's it. Then back to the room. I only took our tickets, my ID, a credit card, and a little cash which all fit in a little lanyard pouch I had. How could I be expected to go to a park with JUST THAT????? I insisted I needed to go back to the room first so I could get my park bag. My husband insisted we'd be fine without it and we could buy anything we needed at the park (our kids were 4, 8, 9, 20, & 22 on that trip). I seriously nearly had a full-blown panic attack. But guess what. We spent a few hours in the park and didn't need anything we didn't have in our pockets. And I quickly realized how freeing it was to not have the bag hanging on my body. That was the end of my bag carrying days at Disney. I still have a tiny wallet on a string (because I don't want things to fall out of my pockets) but it's basically big enough to hold my phone, credit card, ID, and some cash and actually fits in my pocket. Next trip I'm downsizing to just a clear pouch that goes around my neck on a lanyard and will hold the same amount of stuff. That's what my DIL used this past summer and she never had to go through bag check since it was small and clear.

I suggest trying a short park trip without a bag and see how it goes. If someone had made me quit cold turkey, I wouldn't have been able to do it. But because it happened "by accident", I was forced into the situation and I'm much happier because of it.

Yes, I put it in the one in the shorts. I put it in long ways, if that makes sense, since I carry an XL size phone and it doesn't slide out. Short ways it would stick out the top a bit and I wasn't comfortable with it, just in case it slide out. When I have my iTouch for instance, it fits short ways. It does not slide out

It does fit in the one at the waist, which has a zipper. It's just not as convenient to grab and look out when it's in there, the shorts pocket is so much easier.

I always take a camera, even just a point and shoot. I have my phone, required medication, money, giftcards, etc. I am female, so no cargo pants or anything with a lot of pockets.
I am just not sure I can carry all of that on my body and not lose something. :)
