Going back to where it all started- Sept. 2010 PTR

Congrats to Ethan (and Mom too) for making it off to 2nd grade. :goodvibes

I love the "in two weeks I'll be" game.

Like, in two weeks I'll be wandering around Epcot!

Ethan looks so handsome this morning! I love his hair cut - too cute!
I love the picture of you two together, what a beautiful mom & son!

I like to roll my clothing when packing. I feel like it keeps the wrinkles away. Then, when I unpack, all I have to do is unroll everything and it's already folded nicely.

A to-do list is a must for me right now. I'll probably post my list sometime this week on my PTR. I feel like it grows everyday!

We did online check-in last June and it worked out great. I had faxed in my requests a few days before we arrived and all of our requests had been met. Our room wasn't ready, but they said we could check-in to a different room if we didn't want our requests. We ended up waiting (we really only waited 30 min). If you're arriving later at night, I think you could do regular check-in. There shouldn't be a big line.

So glad you're making use of your Disney bin! Mine is at capacity right now and I don't know what to do!

Have a great Labor Day!

Okay, so you fold your clothes and then roll them? :confused3 I'm probably making more of this than I need to, but I don't want to iron them again!:lmao:

Thanks for your thoughts on regulare check-in, that's what I was thinking, too, we won't get to PORS until close to midnight, I would think, so it's not like there are going to be lines or anything....I hope!;) I'm thinking Tracey and Adam should maybe look into it though for noontime the next day? Or I guess when I check in, i'll be mentioning the adjoining rooms so maybe not?? Hmm....

My Disney bin is officially overflowing!!!! :scared1:

Trying the "rolling" method for the first time myself.

Not silly at all - I'm a little nervous myself! But I'm going to give it a shot since most people I've heard from have had a good experience. Also, I don't have any requests I'm "married" to anymore. I'll have some "suggestions" when I do it, but other than that, I'm going to give it a try and see what happens. It's a little easier to accept that attitude, though, when you're going solo.

Thanks for all the tips, I think with all that I need/want, I'm going to wait and just do it the night we fly in...and hope we get what we want at midnight?! Hmm....thinking I should definately fax in a request a couple of days in advance, at least, right?:confused3

So I know you have rolled, unrolled...and your rolling again?

I know exactly what you're talking about, I'm feeling the same way!!!

Congrats with Lucas getting a great teacher that you already know. That's always a relief to know you have a great teacher.
It will be my 1st time doing online check-in, so I can't help you there. I am going to fax request also.

Have a great Labor Day & hope you get all those projects done!

WOW....anxious is how I'm feeling, glad I'm not alone! I have two full weeks...with SO MUCH going on, other than Disney, so need to break out a list! How are you doing now that Levi and Lexi are in school, feeling any more ready?:confused3

We got so much done here, great feeling!!!! Hope you had a nice Labor day, too!!

Aw, Ethan looks so cute today! Probably not what a 2nd grader wants to hear, though, huh? :rotfl:

I had the same issues with my girls today. We started school last week, but for some reason today was the day they decided they didn't feel like going. :confused3 I think they just had too much fun over the long weekend and were tired out. They were not happy with me that I made them go, but they'll be glad later when they don't have to make-up the work.

Aww,thank you, I think so, too! Even if you doesn't want to hear it!!

I remember going through that last year too, after the weekend, the kids have a hard time adjusting into the schedule again. And you're so right, having so much fun at home and then back to reality of things for 9 months, I don't blame them, some what. Ethan was pulling out every card not to go, so hard being a meany sometimes, but as I told him, it was my job and his job was to go to school! I hope the girls had a good day today!:goodvibes

Awwww, I'm sorry you had some tears from Ethan this morning, that can be so hard! He looks awfully cute though :goodvibes

Thanks Michelle!!:goodvibes Poor guy, I felt so bad for him, he did this last year and the second day of school I had to carry him onto the bus! that was terrible! let's hope it goes smoothly the rest of the week....he got big this Summer, pretty sure it would be very difficult to do that this year!;)

Congrats to Ethan (and Mom too) for making it off to 2nd grade. :goodvibes

Aww, thanks Tink!!:goodvibes

The "in two weeks game" is the best! Aww....lucky you, Epcot!!!

Thank you, he requested a "faux hawk" so we went with it, I love it, actually!!

And thanks for your nice compliment on Ethan & I....sorry it's so big, couldn't get that one to resize for some reason?!:confused3

Love your first day of school pics. Your boys are too cute!

I will definately take some pics of my packing technique in the next week or so. I highly recommend the rolling!

Yes, we need pictures Meg! And soon!!

I will say this...it didn't save on the wrinkles...but maybe I didn't do it right.

But really, how many ways are there to roll clothes???

YOU are cracking me up today!!!!!:lmao:

Just an FYI....I never iron our clothes. The only things I've ever ironed are new work shirts for Tony (fresh out of their plastic) and Madison's blouse for Irish dancing. My iron never gets used. I fold everything fresh out of the dryer and nothing is ever wrinkled.

Here's what I basically do when packing t-shirts:

-Lay the shirt flat on folding surface
-Fold in sleeves
-Roll starting at top of shirt

That's it!

Which is basically what I did. My clothes, apparently, just hate me. They don't mind space-saving but they really want me to try out the Disney irons. :rotfl:

So you roll them long then? I was folding them and rolling them in my mind, thinking the Disney irons want me to use them, too! LOL!!:lmao:

We did online check in last time and it was a breeze, very quick and easy. However as someone said with you getting in late, you probably wouldn't have a long wait anyway doing regular if you went that route.

For packing we have been know to roll, it keeps things less wrinkly. We have also done the bagged outfits for the kids and that worked well. In each Ziploc goes a whole outfit from undies to clothes to socks. They pick a bag and boom get dressed. Makes it quick and easy!

You are getting SO close!

I'm thinking I should use this method for getting ready for work every day. The outfit-choosing drama that ensues every morning in my house is fodder for its own reality show. :sad2:

I love the back to school pics..so cute! I already know I'm going to be the mom that cries all day the first day of school. I dont know how moms can be so brave.

I had to drop my neice off at preschool and as she was crying and begging me to stay with her I almost lost it lol. I wanted to grab her and run out the door. Instead I had to walk out of the room and out the hall where I could still hear her crying and yelling my name. Needless to say I spent 15 minutes crying in my car I felt so bad. But of course when my sister picked her up at the end of the day she said she cried for about 3 minutes after I left and then was fine.

Hey Kristen! I don't iron, either! The kids' outfits go in ziplocs. I take a small botytle of Wrinkle Releaser spray!!!

Hi Kristen!

I havent read your last TR yet but am all caught up on this PTR! You must be out of your mind crazy excited!

My DF and I are heading to WDW for his 1st trip in 52 days! It's also our 1st DVC trip (we just bought points last spring) and our 1st trip alone with no kids, and my 40th birthday! We are celebrating!! :goodvibes

I have a small PTR going as well if you are interested (see siggy below) and cant wait until I am a few more weeks in towards my date!!

I think going with your friends and their kids is such a good idea - since you have done it before and it looks like you all have the same idea of things. Such a great way to build memories! :goodvibes

I have subbed and will now go back and read your other TR! Nice to meet you!! :yay:

Oh yeah - I live in Winthrop! We're almost neighbors!

Hi guys!

Well, today was Lucas's 1st day of Kindergarten, actually it was orientation day, Todd stayed home to watch Cole, and Lucas and I rode the bus to and from school and to meet his teacher. He was VERY excited!!! So funny how different kids personalities are.....Ethan is usually so very confident (and he was beyond nervous yesterday) and Lucas is my shy, reserved child (out of house, anyways) and he was dying to get there! We had a nice time and he's so ready! Thought I'd share a few pics of my big boy! WOW...come Friday morning, two will get on the bus, Kindergarten is only 1/2 days here, so he'll get on with Ethan and come home alone.

BEYOND excited!

too cute!

and a pic of him & I

(not a big fan of how I look...oh well, it's the only one we got!)

and now onto the game.....Two weeks from this moment, we'll be at PORS, Tracey and Adam would have been there for about 2 hours by now, we'll have maybe had lunch in the food court, or maybe pool side? :confused3 We'll have hopefully unpacked Tray and changed into our swimsuits for a nice swim in the pool to unwind some. Their flight out of Philly is about 7 a.m. so they will be up and at'em SUPER early with the kids, so we're keeping it low key. :thumbsup2 Maybe a trip to the playground or whatever, just to explore the resort and relax. :cloud9: Tonight we have ressies for the 5 p.m HDDR, so we'll take a shower and get cleaned up about 3:30 and then head that way. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:banana::banana:

Look at Lucas so grown up and excited on his first day of school! My youngest was never nervous to go to school either, I had more reservations than he did

Can't wait to hear about the HDDR, I've never been - the show looks like something that we would enjoy, but I'm not so sure about the menu. So, I'm looking forward to your review!
