Going back for my 2nd trip! Some advice would be appreciated

Ok guys. I went to disney last year, and are going again this year. Well and truely caught the bug. Am staying at POR via thomson, flying premium class (still cheaper then virgin!!)

My questions im sure are obvious to most but im still confused..

Should I tip a taxi driver? Should I tip a barman (and how)?

Last year we went to jellyrolls, and just tipped randomly through the night, but should we tip the waitress bringing our drinks, and how, at the end of the night or with each drink?

Where is the nearest grocery store to POR on foot? im guessing its bus to DTD then walk to goodings?

Whats the best way to get to universal/seaworld from POR without having to pay for a private taxi?

p.s. anyone got a list of what jobs are tipped positions? might make it easier for me to understand who to tip. i practically tipped everyone who walked past me last year for fear of insulting someone

Yes. Cabs 10%+. Bar staff - $1/drink is standard.

Up to you. I'd tip whenever you're paying - so if you're paying "per round", tip per round. If you're paying the tab at the end of the night, tip then.

Whats the best way to get to universal/seaworld from POR without having to pay for a private taxi?

Lynx buses. $2 each way from TTC or DTD. Take the 50 direct to Sea World. If you want to go to Universal, ask for a transfer when you get on (it's free) then transfer from the 50 at Sea World to the 8. Ride until Wet 'n' Wild - it's either a $5 cab ride or a 10 minute walk from there (cross over the road at the intersection of International Drive and Universal Blvd, walk down Universal Blvd (you go over the I-4).

I can't imagine you'd need to tip anyone other than:
- waiters and bar staff
- bellboys
- cab drivers
- the housekeeping (although you don't have to - we leave $1 per person per day in non-Disney hotels).

You don't need to tip anyone in shops, on Disney or Lynx buses or anything like that.

Before walking to Goodings, I would call to make sure they are still open. I thought I heard through the grapevine that Goodings had closed.

Depending what you want to buy - you could go to the Hess gas station at DTD - you can get a few supplies there.

I think you can get a MEARS bus to SW from the hotels or possible catch a Lynx bus from the transportation centre - depends how quick you want to get there.

Hi, Hope these help.

Steer clear of Goodings it is shabby and way overpriced. There is a winndixie 1/2 mile further up the road and there is a Publix (The Best) right by the Animal Kingdom Lodge, on 192. However, if you don't have a car, I would recommend using a delivery service such as Garden Grocer. (disney will hold this for you at bell services)

Universal sells a ticket which includes free transportation from your disney resort to the parks and back. It is the same price as the normal ticket. Otherwise Mears pre-booked shuttles are OK, I would avoid taxis.
