Did anyone go back or are planning on going back for their 1st anniversary? If so did you plan anything special?

I know we just got married but I am thinking of when we go back in March. Mainly I am thinking of it now because we belong to DVC and we can reserve but its got me thinking of what I can do special as a surprise for my DH.

This will probably be the only time we celebrate down there on our actual anniversary because march is Spring break time and we like to go in Oct. The DVC points are cheaper too! So I want to do something special on our day.

Dh and I are thinking about it as well-- although i hate going away from my dogs for a very long time. I cant wait to see the special things everyone plans..

Ok..well im finally saying this on the boards, but it looks like im not doing a vr, but that doesnt mean Im not gonna acknowledge our 10yr....so.......im gonna let them all know when I make any ADRs that its our 10yr & we were married at WDW.
Plus Im gonna go to the CS desk & see if they have any buttons for me to wear

& i was thinking of making a tshirt to wear on the 4th that says something like"congratulate us....today is our 10yr anniversary & we were married at WDW" & put a picture on the tshirt

thats what im doing, unless i think of more!!!;)

Awe Cori, maybe you can have a small reunion of who was present on your special day. Invite them to a grand gathering dinner @ Ohana's or another restaurant that you've been wanting to go to.
You should def try to do something special on your 10 year anniv!

aw cori why not? I was so looking forward to hearing all about it!

we are going back for our 1 year in december, nothing "special" planned yet, my 180 mark to make adr's is soon, I iwll post again if i thinkof anything special we will be doing. but porbbaly just a few nice dinners. havent decided yet!

We are definitely going back! I put the 180 day mark in my blackberry so I can make ADR! I am thinking about doing a Wishes or Illuminations cruise.

They do have anniversary buttons! When we got our Just Married buttons the CM gave us 1st anniversary buttons and told us to start planning for next year!

Dh and I are thinking about it as well-- although i hate going away from my dogs for a very long time. I cant wait to see the special things everyone plans..

Aww Maggie, DF and I will come down and stay with your doggies!!! We love them! tee hee!

I would take you up on that offer. DH and I want to go back-- mainly me-- but im thinking about telling him I dont want to now. Our dogs got sick last time we boarded them and it took 2 weeks to get them straightened back out. I hate seeing them go through that-- sounds stupid i know-- they are just dogs-- but they are the only babies I have!!

DF and I are 10 days away from the "big day" and I'm already thinking about the 1st anniversary!

Maggie, I know what you mean. We have a cat and we hate to leave her. We left her for 2 weeks for the wedding and we felt so bad. Luckily my cat had a beach house to go to..lol. My family lives at the beach so when ever we go down the shore she comes. She loves it down there so if we leave her I know she is in good hands.

I heard that some people have arranged a private dinner at the GF for thier anniversary and even replicated a mini wedding cake. I am going to look into it eventually because that sounds really nice. Although my DH probably would like a fancy dinner as he is such a picky eater. I can't even cook at home, especially with cheese.. Yes, he hates any kind of cheese...what a wierdo! So its probably better to just go to a restaurant where he can pick out what he wants to eat...lol

We went back on our 1 year anniversary last month. I did have a trick up my sleeve.

I made a reservation at the California Grill (where we had our rehearsal dinner) for 2 and made sure to let them know it was our anniversary.

I also called the Contemporary's bakery and jumped through lots of hoops for them to re-create the top layer of our wedding cake.

When we arrived, I requested a table by the window and when we were seated it was THE BEST table in the place. It looked directly over Cinderella's Caste. After dinner, the cake came out and my husband was stunned. We were both impressed at the work the the baker had done.

When the fireworks started we headed out on the walkway and watched wishes.

I think I'll make going on our anniversary a tradition as we both treasure the memories Disney has given us.

just thought of something cute for your shirt idea :

"once a Disney bride, always a Disney bride
your date"
and then maybe your wedding photo?

and I definitely think you can get special buttons!

What we did: Wore our Wedding mouse ears on that day only, invited friends who were at world same time to join us for dinner. My DH ordered a cake on sly, it was just basic celebration cake but very good.

Hi I noticed you all kept writing adrs...nad it sounded important. Could some one please explain to me what they are. Our honeymoon in Disney is May 11/08, so any help would be appreciated.

Advanced Dining Reservation.

With the popularity of the dining plan at Disney it is almost impossible to walk in to many of the table service restaurants. You can make your ADRs 180 days out!

Ohh thank you so much. I hate to be a pain, but can you reccomend a few places. Both of us have only been to disney once at age 10 , so we dont exactly know where to go for dinner. We know we want to do the Chrystal Palace for breakfast and Chef Mickeys one day. But other than that were embarassingly clueless.

I highly recommend going over to the restaurant boards and checking those out! Those folks over there have it down to a science!!

It all depends on what you are looking for! Some places are great for the food and some just for the experience.
Some of my favs are:
EPCOT: Le Cellier steakhouse in Canada
MGM: 50's Prime Time Diner... so much fun! you have to get the smores for dessert! Hollywood Brown Derby for romantic dinner and good food!
MK: I like the plaza for lunch and Cinderella's Royal table is a fun experience.
DTD: Our fave is Raglan Road! Go just before 9 and get a table near the band and Irish dancer! Have a Smithwick's for me!
POR- Boatwrights is my favorite place for breakfast. The banana stuffed french toast calls my name....
Boardwalk: DH loves ESPN and we both like Spoodles
I really like 1900 Park Fare character breakfast at the Grand Floridian.

I'm going to CA Grill at the Contemporary and Boma for my birthday weekend.
For our anniversary next year I'm going to talk DH into Citrico's and Narcooosees.

I wanted to go back and stay at the Grand Californian on our anniversary, and possibly order a replica of our cake.

DH surprised me with dinner at Club 33 instead... :goodvibes
