Hello fellow DIsers,

It’s been awhile since I have posted or read up on cruising. But we are planning a last minute cruise in a few months before my son leaves the country for two years. Last family trip for awhile and wanted to go on a Disney Cruise. Super excited but trying to make some last minute plans.

1). What is the current gift? Want to know if I need to back a backpack or beach bag.

2). Going on the Dream as that is what everyone could do last minute...normally like longer cruises. Do they do Palo Brunch on shorter cruises or just Dinner?

3). Remy...is it worth it on a short cruise?

4). Atlantis...looks like they have a ton of options but what is the best for a group ages 4-50?

5). We’ve been on the Dream once when it originally came out, Have there been any changes?

Thanks friends for your help.

1) It’s the blue sling bag. It’s been around for a few years, but you do not mention when was your last cruise. Google it if you want to see it. It’s not as useful as the old smelly beach bags.

2) They do Palo brunch on Dream cruises. It is on Nassau day on 3-nights cruises, and on the sea day on 4-nights cruises.

3) It depends on how you like it and your family dynamic. I wouldn’t go, but that’s very personal.

5) They replaced the arcade with a sweet’s shop. The headliner show is Beauty & the Beast.

The slingbag they have been giving out is smaller than a backpack. You can put items like sunscreen, glasses, waterbottles, etc in it for a family. But you can only get one or two towels in it, so you may want to bring a beach bag.

We go to Baha Mar for the day on Nassau. it is much quieter and more relaxing than Atlantis.

Thanks for the info. We still haven’t booked yet but wanted to see what our options are. We are close the the 60 day out mark so we will have to be PI

What is the earliest PAT? When are they normally boarding the first group now a days?

How are the tween activities on board? My boys at this age were fine but now they are over 19+ but our youngest daughter is 13. She loved the kids clubs when she was little but definitely ready for teen activities.

Thanks again.

We are cruising in June and are looking for something to do in Nassau other than Atlantis. Tell me more about this place. We are 2 adults. Do you book a room on your own? How do you get to the resort from the ship? Thanks! I looked at the photos and its gorgeous. :-)

we booked a room with points we had available and took a taxi from the port straight there. It is a really large pool area with 7 or 8 different swimming pools. one has a large grotto that you can swim into by passing under a water fall and then there is an aquarium inside the grotto. There are also some rock formations that you can jump off of into the pool.

The casino is nice and the room was a great place to take a restroom break or shower before heading back to the ship.

The beach was nice and clean. Food was readily available from numerous of these really nice air stream kind of trailers along the beach. Each one had a different menu.

We are thinking of just spending a vacation there in the future.

#3: I'd do Remy on a short cruise especially if it's not your first cruise. We had such a lovely time in January at Remy. It was such a fantastic end to the day.

There's a lot going on! The young MacSpiffs will be 13 and 16 on our cruise this summer. Older DS is sorry that he's aged out of Edge; he loved it. We rarely saw him, but he handled his newfound independence well and it was good for all of us, I think. Younger DS spent a lot of time in the kids' clubs last cruise because he knew he'd age out before our next, but he liked Edge too. He's less outgoing than his older brother but the youth counselors there were good about seeing when a bit of social engineering was necessary.
