I have no idea what she's giving us. The last time she sent me a book, it was the surrendered wife book  DH thinks it's the Left Behind series.

I can't wait until she finds out we're going to Busch Gardens instead of church with them.

I'm an athiest and I actually enjoyed the Left Behind series. I read it more for the story and took the religious aspects as more of the fiction of the story. You may enjoy it.

"Easter" isn't really a Christian thing either.

Darn Christians..taking our pagan holidays and perverting them. :rotfl: They took all the good ones too.

My mom even bought DD a Noah's Ark playset one time, saying, "well, I just got it for the animals...she'll like it". Unfortunately for mom, the little stuffed Noah looks remarkably like the mascot of my favorite school football team. Consequently, Noah somehow mysteriously became "the Mountaineer" when I was playing with DD...and she still calls him that. :teeth: Mom was considerably less amused.

:rotfl2: I just googled your stuffed mascot and he does look like Noah! BTW, your macsot is the hottest ... I mean coolest ... mascot to ever visit Madison Wisconsin :lovestruc. Our football tickets that year (2002?) were right in front of the visiting team's spirit squad and I got to see your Mountaineer stride up and down the field in a manly manner. Up close. I'm afraid that I missed some of the game  although I think we won :).

So I'm not a godless heathen - I'm a practicing Catholic, I like my religion, I got to church every week, yada yada yada. I don't want to push my religion and my beliefs on you so don't push yours on me!! That's my beef. My sister fell in among some scary God people (you know what I mean) in college and were warping her mind against the church and her beliefs like you can't imagine. She didn't know which way was up for a while all in the name of being "saved." She has friends that stand outside the bars and frat houses at school with a HUGE cross (that they carry on their backs) and pray for the people who come out. Now that is scary. Luckily she got away from that and has remembered that she'll be "saved" by being her own person with her own faith depending on what suits her needs, not other peoples'. So bottom line, having religion (or not) is cool depending on what your beliefs are.... but when you take it over the top and get "scary" about it that's completely UNcool. :)

Heheheh! You know I still can't figure out why we were sparring that one day. We seem to agree on so many topics. Guess we were both pms-ing ;)

I'm interested to hear if others on this thread have the feeling of "one foot in, one foot out". I've struggled with this almost all my life, at least for as long as I can remember. I go from "I BELIEVE!" to "Whats the use?" pretty much always, teetering back and forth. And on those days where I'm in a "what's the use?" frame of mind, something will happen that is completely magical and surreal and I feel there MUST be some higher power guiding us all. Like, for instance, have you ever noticed that on days when you're in a good mood, or a good frame of mind, or having fun, or spending time with someone you like -- that things just seem to "flow" more smoothly? God/higher power, Coincidence, karma? Its all so confusing, and as I said, I'm constantly teetering back and forth. I guess perhaps its a left brain / right brain thing. I'm always amazed at people who absolutely without question believe in the teachings of the Bible, for instance. I've read up some on various religions and theories, and I'm still just standing here, overanalyzing all of it, with one foot in and one foot out. I wonder what makes some of us more reluctant to believe or not believe so wholeheartedly? Are we afraid to embrace one or the other because we fear the retribution in the afterlife if we do?

(did any of that make sense?)

Excellent, I'll second that vote.

Perhaps us Heathens should make this little smiley part of our signature so we can identify each other.

Can it be the official sign of "Heathens, Not-So-Sures and Uncommitted to any one religion"? :teeth:

I'll tell him you said so. He posts on another board (WVU related) that I post to occassionally. :teeth: Yeah, the thing I remember about that game was that you guys weren't gonna let him bring his musket with him. Now, I ask you...what would Noah be without his musket ? ;)

I'm sort of an undecided, but I swing more to the "I'm not too worried about it" category. I just believe there is no heaven, no hell, you just die and decompose and go back to nature. No big fan fare. Just part of the natural cycle of life! :)

Snoopy, I can so relate to your post above. Just when I think I may be loosing my faith, I find myself laying in bed when worried about something and having a chat with God about it. LOL.

Damn! So much I want to talk about, but I've got to get out of here and take DS#2 to dentist.

Speak amongst yourselves. I'll give you a tawpic: Mary--was she really a virgin and should it really matter?

Discuss--

;)

Yeah. Belief is a risky thing. There's no to know if you're right and if you're wrong, you're in for mortal dissapointment.

Gotta get back to you on Mary after I think about it some.
