I couldn't resist one more post before I went under the Dentist's evil pliers and wires. Motor mouth panda strikes again.
We have a lot of new people on our WISH board this year, so we can talk about goals again.
Athletes need goals, everyone on the WISH is an athlete, so get busy. There are several types of goals:
The short term goal: I'm going to lose 2 lbs this week or I'm going to get in 20 miles this week
Medium term goals: I will break 30 minutes for the 5K this year or I will finish the Disney half in January.
Long term goals: I'm going to make the Disney Marathon an annual event, or I will keep myself trained to the point that I can comfortalely do a half marathon when ever I want and a full with just few longer run/walks.
You need goals so you can focus on what you want to accomplish with your exercise. Even if you just want to be in better shape so you can enjoy everything in life better.
Don't be afraid to stretch your goals to seemingly unatainable limits. When we train properly we are stronger after each stress/rest cycle. You just don't know how good you may become so don't be afraid to go for it. There is an old saying: "If you shoot for the moon and miss you will still land among the stars".
Have some super secret goals to: I want to look good in a swim suit or I wanna have killer abs or is that the same thing?
Share your goals if you dare. I will share mine when I return in a day or to.
