Go with 3.5 yr old to WDW or wait longer?

He isn't too young. We took our youngest last year when she was only 2.5. We took her again this year she was 3.5. Just make sure you take or rent a stroller. Have fun!

Definitely go !!! My ds was 3.5 on our last trip. He had a wonderful time and is still talking about "when we go back" which will be in November. Even though he opted out of several rides, he was big enough to do most of them if he wanted (was exactly 40"). He was easy to keep up with (didn't wander away), did very well in lines and waiting for shows, was not scared of anything (even Terminator 3D at Universal) and really asked for very little from the vendors/dump shops. He still talks about riding the monorail and how he wants another toy "motorail" -- his ds1 broke it about 2 months after the trip and I promised him one the next time we went.

This trip he will be 5.5 and ds will be almost 3. I can say I am actually excited about taking them at this age. If dd2 has half as much fun as ds did on the last trip, it will be very magical.

I can only tell you our experience. We went last year. DD was 2 1/2 one trip, and 3 the next. The other kids were 5, 6, and 11. Youngest dd was BY FAR the most fun at the parks and at the resort. SHE LOVED EVERYTHING! She was very enthralled and patient, did well as long as we roughly kept to our normal sleep/wake schedule (we are early to bed, early to rise). Her favorites were Philharmagic, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Figment. My other kids had fun, and liked things, but they would set their minds on what they wanted to do, unlike youngest dd who just loved it all.

Wow, I can't believe how many responses there are. Thanks to all of you who shared your opinions and experiences. I think in the back of my head I was hoping you'd say Go Now! :)

My dd is 2.5 and would never be able to sit in a movie for more than 5 minutes. We took her to wdw in may and she LOVED it. Loved the MK, AK and MGM, loved the characters, loved the pool. You just need to think about what attractions you are going to see. Don't take your ds to attractions that are not kid friendly rides (no Hall of Presidents!!!). Also watch out for long lines...hard for the little ones to wait that long. But going in September should help with this issue. Go and have a great time!

Just agreeing with everyone else - my son was a month shy of three when we went last July and he LOVED it. Our last night there, he is the one who didn't want to leave MK EMH - we were in Fantasyland til almost 3am with him dragging us along LOL! Have a wonderful time :)

Forgot to mention that he STILL doesn't sit through a whole movie at the movie theater - totally different experiences :) But he loved Mickey's Philharmagic!

We took my son when he was 19 months old. We when with my whole family and his cousins were just turned 3, 4 and 10. They had SOOOOO much fun. I think the yourger ones looked like they had even more fun becouse it was magic to them. Sure they wont remember it, I don't remember going at that age either but my Mom remembers it like it was yeasterday. And I will remember it forever too. My Mom came with us all last September and said the only vacation she has loved more then taking us at that age was being there with her grandkids while they were that young. It is magic and it will be something you will never forget. Heck, we are going back in November and are in the middle of buying into DVC right now! I can't am so ready to go back!!!! My son will be 29 months old and most likely 40 inches this time, only and inch and a half to grow:)

Go now! It will probably be the most magical visit for your family because everything will be so "real" for your DS. I've been taking my daughter since she was 15 months and she enjoyed it even then, but it's even more fun now. Kids this age believe in the magic like no one else.

Incidentally, my whole family found Cars hard to sit through and we all left after a half hour. It's no indication at all of how a Disney trip will go. Trust me on that.

Our DD was 3.5 and it was AWESOME. They're never too young. I had a few friends tell me that our DD was too young to really appreciate it....of course, they had not even BEEN to WDW!!! It is totally the opposite - they really do cater a lot to the younger kids. There's so much that they can do. Of course, NEXT year she'll be 4 and there will be even more stuff she can do! DEFINITELY you should go....

Loving this thread! I am a changed woman and my son isn't even born yet...2 months to go!! I have always been the "wait until they can walk on their own the whole time and blah, blah, blah" kind of gal. Took DD's for first time at 7 and 9 which WAS magical of course. Anyway, we're planning a trip when he will be 28 months and we already can't wait! I say go and enjoy! These posts make me even more sure! :)
