USA - Pacific Coast 2011
Well I decided that being single was not going to stop me travelling, so after some consideration I decided on a tour. Now I have done coach tours in the past, but I wanted to do a tour with people more my age so settled on Trek America
The next decision was where and when
As I love the West Coast so much it was easy and as the tour started in LA I could also get my Disney fix
Also it had to be summer and wanting to enjoy Independence Day in the US I settled for late June.
So in October I booked the tour, then in November I booked my flights. As I am travelling alone and have for the past 8 years been saving my Virgin Atlantic Flying Club points I decided to treat myself to an Upper Class flight both ways
So the itinerary is as follows
Fly to LA on the Tuesday and transfer to Disneyland for the next 3 nights, this will give me two whole days to tour the parks
On Friday I travel to the tour departure hotel for one night to meet up with my fellow travellers.
Saturday we meet up and head off up the coast to Santa Barbara and set up for the first night of camping
Sunday we travel along the Pacific Coast Highway and stop in Big Sur to survey the dramatic coastal scenery.
Monday we head inland to Yosemite where we will be camping in the park for two nights and exploring the park from above and below.
On Wednesday we head back to the coast and two nights at a hotel in San Francisco, there will be time to enjoy the bright city lights and also the sights by day
Then time to head north again on the Friday and 2 nights at Redwood National Park home of the giant Redwoods.
On Sunday off to a new state, Oregon. Passing through Portland and Mt St Helens for two nights, to see the sand dunes and also the landscape created by the volcanic activity.
Tuesday is Mount Rainer National Park in the heart of the Cascade Mountains home to trails and glaciers.
Wednesday we head off to the rainforest, hot springs and ancient glaciers of Olympic National Park which is the last two nights of camping.
Friday is the last day for the tour and we head to Seattle where the Space Needle gives wonderful views across the city, I shall stay here for two nights to tour the city.
Finally on Sunday I fly back to LA for two nights and time to hit the shops before flying home on Tuesday
