Hi all! I am a frequent lurker here but rarely post  . I could really use some advice from experienced DISers, especially those who've traveled to WDW in their 2nd trimester of pregnancy.

We have an upcoming trip planned for early December. We booked it last January, so there's been lots of time for anticipation to build up! DH and I were planning to take our DS, who will be just a few days shy of his 3rd bday on the trip. I am pregnant and would be about 19 weeks pregnant at the time of our trip. Here's the delimma:

My DH just had a major emergency come up at work and there is no way we're going to be able to make our early Dec trip. We are so disappointed but it can't be helped. I need advice on what to do about rescheduling our trip. I can only really see two options here.

The first is to reschedule for the end of Jan or early Feb. This would put me about 26 weeks. I am a bit concerned that I am going to poop out and not be able to really enjoy the vacation. I've had a very rough first trimester and just now starting to feel human again. I was walking around the mall last week and my feet we're killing me after only 2 hours! Also, I'm not sure we'd be able to get our same hotel and ADRs this close. I also want to add that my DH had a major back surgery a few months ago, so this was planned to be a leisurely trip for family time...no commando this time.

Option 2 is to postpone the trip completely until next year. I sooooo don't want to wait a whole year, but I really do want to do a Dec. trip. Obviously, if we go next Dec, we'll be traveling with our 4 year old and a 7 month old.

So, WWYD??? Go this coming Jan/Feb at 26 weeks of pregnancy or just suck it up and wait another year? We haven't been to WDW since our honeymoon 10 years ago so I am really looking forward to going again, this time seeing it through my child's eyes. :goodvibes

Thanks very much for any input you can give! I am truly stuck on what to do here and DH is leaving it up to me. Ugh!

Since you aren't planning on going commando anyway, I would go. I find it way easier to travel pg than with a baby. Disney can be as relaxing as you want it to be. Your DS will be young enough that he won't have an agenda. Lines probably won't be much his thing either. Focus on soaking up the atmosphere and have a great time :)

I went to DW when I was 32 weeks pregnant and had a wonderful time. That being said, I had a very easy pregnancy with no complications. It was nice to take a slower pace. I saw things I had not seen before. I did decide to rent a wheelchair in Epcot because of all the walking and standing. It was great to have a place to sit as opposed to leaning on a rail in the circle vision things. (they even have "plus sized" wheelchairs as I was HUGE by this point :rotfl: ). It was a bit hard to not go on the BIG rides but I shopped my way through it!! Disney is Disney and the magic is there whether you are on Space Mountain or not. That being said, being an emotional pregnant woman I cried at every single "magical moment" in the whole darn park! :rotfl2: So bring the tissue!! Good luck with your decision.

GO GO GO I went to disney 3 times in the past five years and was pregnant each time. (my husband gets nervous when I want to plan a trip there now ;-)

It was great fun, just take it easy and take some naps during the day. Also- go to the Grand Flrodian Spa for the mother to be massage - its wonderful!!

I've been to WDW pregnant many times and always had a great time. Take it easy, drink a ton of water, and take some time and relax and put your feet up. You can still do all the rides that don't have restrictions and take advantage of pictures with the characters..they seem to love PG bellies..lol

go!!! unfortunately, you cant always control your body..i was on bed rest w/twins at 5 months. took it easy, drank water, ate right -my water still broke at 7 months and they were 2 pds each...go have a good time and dont stress-that in itself can damage you physically and menatally.

GO!!!!!
I went when I was 32 weeks pregnant. I flew from NJ too.
But, I had a problem free pregnancy.
We too had been there every year for the last 15 years, so we don't ever do Disney commando anymore. My mother did have to be the voice of reason when I wanted to go on TOT!!
Relax & enjoy the trip.
We went again the next year when my DD was 10 months old & that was a heck of a lot easier then I ever thought it would have been.
My only problem was that I am a single mother & I brought my big huge deluxe stroller & that was SO heavy to carry on the busses!
Your going to have a great time.

I would go and I am actually leaving for the world next week! I am 30 weeks pregnant, i can let you know how it goes for me when I get back, I will be 32 weeks then. I also went when I was pregnant with my last dd but I was only like 14 weeks or so. For me waiting a year would be too long of a wait!

I will try to remember and post how it goes when I get back, I am super excited! I am sad that I can't ride most of the rides but there is still a lot of stuff I can do and it is always magical there no matter what!

I'll be the voice of dissent. ;) I am 26 weeks pregnant right now and there is no way in heck I would go to WDW. I am really uncomfortable right now......heartburn (can't eat much), tire very easily and just moody and unpleasant in general. :teeth:

Good luck with what you decide.

Thanks for all of your input. I am leaning towards going because I really don't want to wait another year. DS talks about going to see Mickey all the time. This morning when he woke up I could hear him singing It's a Small World in that sweet little voice from his bed. It nearly brought tears to my hormonal eyes!

I guess I will just try and find the most comfy shoes I can and try taking longer walks to get ready. Thanks again!

I went when I was 34 weeks pregnant with my first...it was a great time...surprisingly I didn't have issues with walking around...I did take it a little slower...but it was still a great time...I would do it again in a heart beat...ENJOY!

In Sept. 2004 we went with a 3yo & 7 month old. Yes, babies are a lot of work. But not anymore so at WDW than at home. They still eat and sleep on the same schedule. WDW is very baby friendly, and babies are very portable and adaptable. It was barely a blip. DS#2 loved watching all that was going on around him and got attention from the characters that a toddler and older children just does not get. It was a super magical time. BTW--DS#2 has health issues & quite the personality (from the day he was born) and is VERY high maintance. I actually found he was easier to deal with at WDW!

In May 2005 we went with a 4yo, 15 month old, and I was 6 months pregnant (sorry, can't remember the exact weeks). It was different being pregnant, but hardly anywhere near horrible. NOTE: I have rotten pregnancies. I did avoid bedrest the third time, but I had morning sickness (badly) for the whole 9 months. All you have to do is follow a few rules.

*Check with your Dr. first for anything that pertains towards YOUR pregnancy

*Get very comfortable shoes. Wear them and only them when in the parks. I wore crosstrainers that gave a bit for swelling. And practice walking in them around home to you build up some endurance.

*While at the parks, rest often. You'll be amazed at the amount of things you miss when you aren't sitting 10-15 minutes every hour or two. Let your DH take your preschooler on the rides, you rest while they wait in line. That way you don't even notice your breaks.

*Know where the restrooms are.

*Be familiar with food (for cravings & aversions).

*Stay hydrated.

*Soak for feet in the tub every night with some type of foot bath for swelling/aching feet. That alone was the best thing I did.

*Don't feel the need to get to the parks at opening, even if you will leave for a break or quit early for the day and just relax while there. And don't feel the need to stay late even if you left for a chunk of time during the day or came late. Just listen to your body.

You basically feel the same way at WDW as you do at home. If you are miserable at that stage of your pregnancy, it is better to be miserable at WDW than stuck in your house & same old, same old routine.

I say GO! I've been to Disney 3 times pregnant -- 10 weeks, 18 weeks and about 30 weeks. We've just always taken it easy those trips. My DH would take the kids on the rides and I would rest, shop or meet them if the lines were super long. It's amazing all the things you miss when you're running from attraction to attraction and not taking the "time to smell the roses". My DS13 bought a hidden mickey book that we pulled out when I needed some slow time and it was a ton of fun! Find comfy shoes now and get used to walking in them, drink lots of water and rest in the afternoons to return to the parks for dinner and more fun! Oh yea, don't forget to pick up some peppermint foot moisturizer, :thumbsup2 it does wonders for swollen tired feet! Have a magical time!

I say go while preggo! Last December we went with our 3 boys, then ages 6, 4 and 1.5, and I was 5 months along with #4. I did better than I thought I would. I think the excitement kept me going. :) No regrets here!! :thumbsup2

I would wait and go with a 7 month old. I'm not sure I would last very long in a theme park pregnant.

I went when I was 2 weeks pregnant does that count ;) I actually thought it was Mission to Mars that made me feel so nauseous all day long.

The 2nd trimester is supposed to be the "good one." I think only you know yourself. Is this pregnancy much like your last one? If so how did you feel then? I wouldn't hesitate to go. I would think it would be nice to spend some time in the pools each day...even if that means spending time in a bathing suit :) I also think it would be special to have those memories with DS while you are still a family of 3. His world is about to be rocked!
