Has anyone used the Go San Diego card? I'm wondering if the discounts are worth it, or if it would be cheaper to try AAA discounts or other online discounts instead.

Thanks!

I'm not familiar with a sandiego card, what is it? Alot of times I type in all kinds of things for free or discounts for the area I am looking for. AAA is also good for things like that. You could always call the local paper and ask them if they have coupons for anything special you are looking for. I would try a few of these things, as you go people will give you good ideas. Hope this helps a little. Jo

When we did a family trip to San Diego a couple years ago I looked into the GO card as well as other discounts and crunched a lot of numbers -- our family of 6 gets expensive.

What I found was the GO card was a bargain if you were doing more than one activity a day -- zoo in the morning, harbor tour later; kayaking one day and Belmont park that night.

Our youngest at the time was 3 and we knew we would only be doing one big thing each day, so it worked out cheaper to use a combination of other discounts.

Some things to think about: Is this a go-go-go vacation or to relax? In January, will the hours/frequency of the tours/attractions allow you to do everything you want to squeeze in for the price you pay? Does it include most of the things you want to do (if I recall Sea World wasn't on the card)?

In an off-peak time like January, you may find better discounts on your own. When we went in October I don't think I paid full price for anything -- kids free at the zoo, BOGO at Legoland, advance purchase discount for the harbor tour, etc.

Thank you PHXscuba...we will be traveling with a 6-year-old, 3-year-old, and 3-month old so I think we will stick with 1 activity per day. Thanks for the advice!

When we went I got a lot of good advice from reading the Trip Advisor forum for San Diego. Kind of the "DISboards" for the area. Some nice and helpful people to ask questions about discounts, attractions, areas to stay, unique restaurants, etc.
