Go Red Sox !!!!!!!

Take a lesson from Football- REVENUE SHARING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who cares about the Yankees 26 championships if they are the only ones winning? Dosen't it get hollow?

You do realize the last three World Series weren't won by what you'd exactly call large market cities (except for Aneheim, if you consider them part of the LA market)?

Being a large market will get you only so far -- it still has to be won on the field (sorry, old, tired cliche there :p )

I sense a touch of angina in TiggerInNY's post!

And those umps were awful last night. For both sides. How could that 3rd base ump not call that a home run????!!!!! What a joke they made of the game.

Hmmmm, really? Wasn't it 1996 in Yankee Stadium when an 11year old named Jeffrey Maier reached over the outfield wall and snagged a ball that was ruled a home run during a playoff game against the Orioles. Or how about Chuck Knoblauch's phantom tag of John Valentin in the '99 ALCS. What about Derek Jeter's pahntom tag in game three of the this year's series against Minnesota? And I suppose the stunt that Rodriguez tried to pull on Arroyo was legite, too? This figures. For years, the breaks have always gone in favor of the Yankees. But now that the tables have turned, the umps are terrible!!!

The umps did the right thing, no matter who you root for! They got together and made sure that the correct call was made.

And they had the guts to do in front of the home team's crowd.::yes::

And just for the record, ESPN did a survey, some time ago, of sports worst calls in history. Knoblauch's phantom tag - #4 in an on-line poll and #1 through their mailbag. Jeffrey Maier's assist on Jeter's home run - #4 by ESPN's staff writers and #6 through their mailbag.;)

Regardless of how this series turns out, the Yankees have already pulled the biggest choke in sports history by allowing the Red Sox to pull even!

Here's something to help out the Yankee fans...

Did I hear someone yell, ABANDON SHIP!

Before this thread I never really thought about the implications of "Reverse the Curse."

I like the Sox fans here. I wouldn't bring my kids near Fenway these days because there are fans, and then there are people looking for an excuse to be drunk and combative and obnoxious, possibly on camera, and I don't know why New York wouldn't have any of that. The people "rioting" here should be of NHAnn's Dad's age, not college freshmen. :p

Nahhh... the Red Sox will just give up their monopoly on that title ;)

Truth be told, if the Yankees win tonight, outside of Boston, nobody will remember the comeback unless the Sox win tonight.

It's a record setting comeback to this point, true, but it's all for naught if they don't win Game 7. :)

Sure, sure...that's why Sports Illustrated is already calling this "the most shocking comeback in baseball postseason history."

Or stated differently, the pundits can try to diminish what has already happened all they want, but the "House That Ruth Built" has already been shaken.

And whitewash won't hide the new cracks in the foundation.:hyper:

Believe what you want, but it's really true. The bottom line is what matters. If the Yankees win, no one outside of New York and Boston will remember. The rest of the country will remember the Yankees going to the World Series again.

If the Red Sox win, then ya got something ;)

Sports fans tend to have very short memories of other teams (and very, very long memories of their own team :p :p )

Because the Red Sox just shredded the "record" books. History is irrelevant, and ANYTHING is possible tonight - including a riot by New York fans who just can't accept that there is actually competition for a title.

I'd just like to revisit this post for a minute to point out that this morning on the radio I heard that there were small fires set and cars burned... in Boston.

Was there any damage in NY?

Nope!!!! No riots because the NY Yankees lost!! We can handle it. It's not the first time and it's not the last. We've been to a couple of World Series since 1986!! Unlike our rivals. And I didn't hear of any confrontations between NY fans and Boston fans. hmmmmm Hope their players got out of "THE EVIL EMPIRE" alive. Ya know, NY is a scary place. hahahah Not as scary as Boston though. Burning and overturningcars, etc. That's what happens when there's such a drought between appearances.

I have to admit it....Congratulations Boston. You beat us fair and square. An unbelievable comeback. :earseek: I don't know what happened to the bats in that Yankee dugout. It's a sad day in mudville. :(

Yup a few drunk morons have to ruin it for everyone!
They have these idiots on film the mayor said they are reviewing photos and video tape and they will find these indviduals and that if they are students they will be going to the colleges to arrest these idoits and request they be thrown out of school.
All the Major colleges in the area told the students before the series that they have a zero tolerance policy and if caught causing destruction they would be expelled.

I will never understand how burning and breaking stuff is part of a victory.

No riots? Maybe. But the NY fans couldn't handle a couple of umpire conferences used to "get the call right" during game 6. Their behavior in game 6 warranted the arrival of a team of police officers in riot gear.

I'm sure that every sport has frustrated fans like that. And remember, they didn't get a chance to see the replays in the stadium as we did at home.

Nobody got hurt either. In Boston, people were killed because the fans were 'celebrating'.

No, Yankee fans aren't angels, but neither is anyone else. Yes, the Yankees lost but they did win three games and set several records too, I believe. They also pushed two games into major extra innings. I think they just ran out of steam.

One person was killed by the projectiles fired by the police.

I was watching the crowd last night live on Fox, and the news camera was fixed on a group throwing barrels at a Sovereign bank sign...they finally broke it, cheered, and moved on. They looked 14.

They repeated a clip of a guy just now, "Yay, we burnin' cars and everything"...uh, no, it's not your typical Red Sox fans celebrating, it's the idiot factor that shows up during fan celebrations.
